You may want to also send him this link. There are, among other samples, Les Paul with a Maz Sr head/ 2x12 cab, and a Maz Sr 1x12 combo: Pro Guitar

Ronnie, I don't have the time to listen to them all but after hearing the first one I say"Yep".
Of course he'll need to spend the time to get to know the unique tone stack but I'd show him a pic of BW's settings for a starting point, a lil more verb and mids and he should be close.
Just print and show him some of the MAZ threads of how EVERYONE struggles with the Fender to MAZ swap mentally with the tone stack.
but IMO, they are in the MAZ.
Speaker would be critical too, probably that Cali. you have.

rcrecelius,
Yes, the Maz 38 will nail those tones beautifully, without question. I previously owned a Maz 38 Senior 2x12 combo with the G12H / V30 speaker configuration; I gigged with that amp for three solid years using all the guitars you see listed below in my profile. Tell the fellow that he can opt to use the master volume feature and get most of the OD tones he needs, depending on the PUs he has in his guitars. Or, he can put almost any pedal in front of the Maz 38 and expand the palette significantly. It's a great choice.

Hey Ronnie, This fellow has a style very similar to mine. I suspect he's an Allman Bros fan. With that said he's got the big bottle tones covered with the current equip he's using. I think he'd be pleased with your maz sr because of it's ability to get the tones he had in the recordings but with that el84 ring and compression mojo. It's not for everyone but is a nice change. That said I'm not playing humbuckers these days but can definitely relate to his playing style. He has to want to hear something different than fender and marshalls. A better different IMO but tone is so subjective. Hope this helps.
