I recently acquired some really cool cabs. I think I would like to have my Maz 38 212 as just a head. Has anyone ever pulled their Z out of a combo and mounted it in a head? Does Z sell empty head boxes?

Boomer, I've seen a couple... last one I think, was a Bob Burt custom Head cab for a DR Z combo amp into a head... It was very nice looking and of course instead of the slot for the Controls on the bottom of the head, the slot was at the top with the tubes hanging down as it does in the combo version... The ones I've seen were very nice looking... should be easy for someone who makes custom cabs to do it.... don't know if doc would do something like that, but you could ask him?? Jason

A few guys have been lucky enuf to get a unloaded cab from Doc, doubt he sells them often though.
I bought an empty combo bab from unclePat here for my Z/28 and swapped it from the head cab.
Or as Jason said, there are custom cab guy's about, drop Zane a note, his Brother is making some pretty cool cabs.

If you do the tubes down configuration on the head box consider a fan, especially on the 4 output tube amps.

Funny this question came up, but I asked Mike if he would sell me an empty 2x12 combo cab for my 1x12 Maz just two days ago. He said he only sells empty cabs if they have blems.
