Hi All, Looks like I am selling my Maz Invasion to a good friend and great player. The Invasion has 2-12's, a V-30 and G12H. The tone and performance has been incredible. In speaking with Stu at Fat Sound, he suggested that moving into a new Maz senior would definitely be the way to go. I agree with him. I have gigged with the Invasion for over a month. OK, here is where I am setting myself up to the mercy of the court, lol: If I consider going with a single 12 combo am I really going to miss that second 12? Moving the 2-12 combo is a pain. Many thanks! Rick

Break it up into separate head and cabs. More expensive for sure but more versatile and easier on the back. I've also always thought that straining your hands carrying heavy gear hurts your playing for a while after load in.

...a 2nd vote for head/cab setup..l have a Maz Sr head with two separate 1-12 cabs of my own design and construction...a vintage30 in one and a G12H in the other...i like the versatility and lighter weight a lot..if'n i was going with one speaker in a combo it would be the G-12H.....i'm gonna be adding a 3 or maybe 4-10 cab and a 1-15 cab to the collection too....and eventually a Mantaray head....woohoo!!!

I thought I needed a 2x12 when I bought my Maz 38. My salesman assured me that a 2x10 would be plenty, and said I could take the 2x10 to a gig and if I still thought I needed the 2x12 that I could exchange it. I never exchanged it because the 2x10 sounds huge, moves lots of air, and most importantly to me stays very tight in the low end. If you can, try a 2x10 combo, they're much easier to move around.

My 1 x 12 combo weighs 60 pounds. That's one reason I ordered my Stang Rag as a separate head and 2 x 10 box, break up that lift in and out of the trunk.

I have a 38 1-12 and it has the giant sound, espically with the Tonker installed....I see no reason to go with more speakers,,,the amp is almost like a bass in one respect...it seems to come from everywhere, not just the speaker...I really think the construction and cab design have something to do with this...but whatever the reason, it is a huge sounding amp.... I have several multi speaker amps, and a StingRay ...the MAZ 1-12 needs nothing to hold its own with any of them....I believe I would put this up against most 4-12's....just MHO

I have a 2X12 combo unit which I love but also recommend getting a separate head & cabinet. That will also open you up to variation with either 1X12, 2X12, 2X10 etc. That 2X12 combo unit is HEAVY; especially on tight stairwells and getting it in and out of a car!

I do not have a problem with the weight of my MAZ sr 1x12 combo, I actually sold off my head and went back to a combo. Wanna talk heavy? Z-Best !!! had to sell that dude, killer sound...back killer !!! Head cab is two lighter peices, but made for an additional trip that I tired of, my pedal board bag has a shoulder strap so I use it, guit in one hand, amp in the other, I'm in in one trip Curt

I have a $15 luggage dolly from WalMart that I roll my amp around on. I also put my accessory bag on top at the same time. When I get my Stang Ray rig I'll haul the separates around the same way. I can't make it in one trip anyway because for the last 10 or 15 years I've always had to haul PA and lights too. I've got small but good quality PA. I'm usually the only guy that has a PA, or at least a good PA instead of some old clapped out rig that's huge and uneccessary. All of this stuff still fits in my trunk and a little in the backseat. It still takes 4 or 5 trips, dang it!

I replaced the G12H with one in my Maz 1x12 and it made a big difference. That being said, it still doesn't sound as big as 2 12" speakers do, but bigger than any of the following singles I've tried in the amp: G12H, Vintage 30, Weber Ceramic Blue Dog, Cannabis Rex. A Swamp Thang sounds as big, but with a more American sound.

Why not buy a 1x12 Combo....(or 2x10 for that matter)....and add an extra 1x12 extension cab as needed.
