According to the website, a 2 x 12 Maz 38 Sr. combo with Reverb weighs 65 lbs. The same amp with 2 x10's weighs 47 lbs.
Can just the difference in the speakers plus the fact that the 2 x 12 is larger be 18 pounds? That seems like too much to me.
Anyone have any observations???
Thanks

I have not weighted my 38 1-12 but I would bet it goes well over 50lbs....no question, these are some solid..(annother word for) heavy amps/. small price to pay for all that heavy duty tone...IMHO

My MAZ-38 Studio Deluxe 1X12 combo weighs 76 lbs in the road case--or enough to cost you an extra 50 bucks everytime you fly it. The Senior head is about 54 lbs in its case, and that's a $25 dollar excess baggage charge by today's standards. You can get away w/ 70 lbs on an int'l flight. A little easier to fly a head and use backline speaker cabs. (Usually a Marshall 4X12 or a red knob Twin.)

Well, this is the one topic that gives me the redass... No offense to anyone but...
You see I have a bad back so I specifically checked the Dr's web site for the weight of a Maz 38 Sr with 1x12 before ordering it over a year ago. The site still claims 47lbs is the weight for the combo. The truth is on my digital scale it comes out to 59lbs... I know the Dr. is busy but surely he can correct this. Anyway, I orderd a single 1x12 cab to go with my combo so that I can sell the combo and order a head. Sucks

I weighed my Maz 38 sr reverb 1-12 combo when I got it, 60 pounds. I know my old 4x10 Bassmans weigh 40 to 45 pounds and I new the Z was more so I put it on the scale. It is uncomfortably heavy if you have to lift it up into a high truck or van. That's another reason why I ordered my Stangray as a separate head and 2x10 box. Good materials weigh a lot, that's all there is to it.

the exact reason I sold my Maz 38 2x12 reverb combo. At about 90 some pounds with a single handle on top, that was some kind of beast to haul up and down the stairs from my studio to jams and gigs. Some serious tone from that amp though, still need to replace it with a head version, but recent Maz 18 and Stingray purchases have put that a bit off track! -Greg

Sucks Hey Shakey, its possible that the weight listed on the website is for the old style 1X12 combo...the current production ones are a larger, wider cab, thus more weight. If mine weighed 59 lbs before goin' in the case, it'd be at least 79-80 lbs in the case. You're right, should be updated.

I loved the sound of the 2x12 combo, but it was an instant NoCanDo when I went to lug it. I haven't weighed my 2x10 combo, but I know it's way (weigh) lighter than my last amp, a late model Fender Pro Reverb, that weighed in at around 80 lbs. by itself.

I have to laugh when I see those Angstrom road cases for the 2x12 Sr. Good luck selling those to us weekend warriors. They oughta try selling 'em to the World's Strongest Man Competition. Yeah, an extra 25lbs and handles on the side are just what the Dr. ordered for hauling it up my basement stairs and lifting it into my truck.

Yeah, but the bag busters'll make sure your amp won't work when you get to the gig if you're flying and you don't have a good ATA case...on this last tour I took the 'verb pan out of my Senior head and carried it with me so it wasn't subjected to the daily rigors of the road in the bus bay AND the plane, worked like a charm every night. (well, every night that the bags made it on the same flight with us...;^( Thanks Doc!

pjrhd28, I have a MAZ Invasion Reverb with 2-12's shipped weight was 73 lbs. Bottom line is I wouldn't gig without it. Rick.

Make it Chee-tos an' ya gotta deal! Its questionable that any of us could afford lunch over there as expensive as its gettin'. At least you don't have to pay to park at Market Hall.

All I know is that my Maz 38 2x10 weighs less than my Super Reverbs and it's smaller as well. That's a good thing.

I think my old Super Reverb weighs about the same as my Maz 38 1 x 12 combo. That old Super has some big old casters on it (added before I got it) and that sure eases the load. I like a rolling amp but just can't see putting them on my Z.

You know your getting old when you start debating the merits of an amp based on it's weight! Remember the days when we used to gig with 4x12 cabs & real B3s with Leslies? It took 4 men and a boy to get a B3 onto the stage in a club!!! I bought a RX head 'cause I can't imagine carrying a 2x12 combo around!

B-3 was a piece of cake IF you have the dolly, trailer with a ramp, and no more than 3 steps!

LOL...that brings back memories. We used to prcatice in a church in the 80's, and I remember backing the van right up to the doors and wrestling the hammond and 4x12's on and off the stage every saturday. In those days we never let a little thing like size or weight bother us.
Boy things change. My decision to get a 38 head was based almost completely on weight.

In the late 1980s I gigged with a Marshall 1/2 stack. I put a regular strap handle on the top of the 4 x 12 so I could move it around by myself. I could even go up and down steps with it. At the time I had a 1986 Mustang GT and I could move all my guitar gear in it because of the hatchback.

I'm 54, I've got bad feet, a bad back, and a few extra pounds on me as well. I love having big wheels. I can leverage the amp up and into my wagon. I can get help getting it on stage. The rest of the time I just roll that thing around, usually with a double gig bag and a tool bag with my cables, tools and pedals. Works fine (for me). P. PS--the last bandleader specifically requested I bring "Big Red". It may be making a better impression than my playing.
