I was wondering if anyone elses MAZ is noisy when its not being played? There is a lot of static type sound in mine when its sitting idle ........and then of course I cannot hear it when I play.......also, if I dime the master and the volume.......and don't play........there is hissing and static and lots of noise coming out of the speakers..........normal? (Playing with single coils.)

Yea, mines extremely quiet, only if I have a heavy distortion pedal on or something will it hiss... it's as quiet as any other amp I have when not stumming or picking... might want to post this same question over in the "ASK MYLES" Experts section of the forum to make sure he see's it... he can probably point you in the direction of whats causing the problem... I would start with the tubes, changing them out with ones you know are good and work from there...

When you turn the volume down does it go away? Is it still noisy when the guitar cord is unplugged from the amp?

Hi James, are you physically touching the guitar when you notice the noise or not? Does it stop when you touch or hold the guitar? My guitar will cause hum or buzzing when I am not touching the guitar. I think you ground it somehow. I was really puzzled myself when I first noticed that. If it doesn't stop then take the amp to a tech as fast as you can.

Thanks for the responses...........
It happens when I have the guitar UNPLUGGED.......no cord in the amp input either. Also. ..........both volumes need to be past 1 oclock for the static to start happening..........its not as bad as static on a TV channel with no reception, but......its close to that.
I am working with Brent on it right........tried removing preamp tubes...and tightening the chasis screws..........
I'll get to the bottom it......and report back.
