I was playing around with my Maz 38 Invasion reverb. I just couldn't dial in the "right amount". In addition, when I would add my Tim pedal or whatever overdrive. the reverb was way too much. So, I switched the reverb driver (V3) with a JJ 83S (12AX7) and the reverb recovery (V4) with a JJ 81 (12AT7). Very cool results. Just want to share this with you. I am thinking the long delay is just a bit too long. I'll give you a heads ups when I change out the tank with a medium delay.

I'm thinking about getting a medium or short tank myself. Let us know how it sounds.

Hi all, Well, at this point in my very short Z experience, with experimentation, I have found that the medium delay tank, Accutronics 9AB2C18 sounds very good. The single notes or chords just have bit more clarity to my ears. I like the way the medium delay works. In my Maz 38 Invasion, the reverb tank bag is stapled to the bottom of the cabinet. So, being a girl thingy about it, I am going to live with the longer delay. I guess when I get brave, I will pull the staples, get a new reverb bag, insert the medium delay, a la fender, and screw the bag to the bottom of the cab. Being an old school player, reverb still works for me. The Z reverb with long delay does sound great even when playing secret agent man or pipeline. Have fun!

Well, The Invasion has returned from Doc Z's surgery with flying colors and a new recommended reverb tank; a short tank with long delay. The old tank actually had a problem with it as Doc had suspected. The reverb sounds better. I will still try out a med delay tank. I recently got a Blonde MAZ Jr with verb, long tank, medium delay; Sounds great. Go figure. Rick.

I had the short tank/long decay in my MAZ 38 when I got it last year. Nice & lush, but too much for my tastes. Just seems to go on forever, so I would always end up running the reverb barely on, like at about 8:00. I put in the medium decay that I ordered from Mojo, and dig it much better. BUT, since then, the reverb has quit working on my Sr. I can deal without it and have still been using the amp, but it would be nice to get it fixed before long-

Jayson, Did you use a long tank as a replacement? Hows it going with Curt? I really like the 9.5-44 set. All the best to you! Rick.
