Hi! I just bought a Maz 38 SR (non-reverb) combo. It has three preamp tubes, and I am assuming they are named V1, V2, V3 starting with the tube FARTHEST from the power tubes.
I again assumed (with nothing to base it on, actually) that they have the same function as the layout on a Marshall: V1is the gain, V2 is the tone, and V3 is the phase inverter.
Is this correct? I would be very grateful for any help with this.
Thankyou very much in advance, Philberto

Yes you are correct Philberto. The tube closest to the power tubes is the Phase inverter or V3. Are you planning some tube experimentation/swapping?

THANK YOU for the info.
Yes - I have already done some, I tried 5751's and a Mullard and they sound good, good distortion, a little less brightness. I think I'm going to try some Mullards, some Brimars and some NOS American tubes next. I used the Maz at rehersal today and I may have toned it down a little too much. I am using an 8 ohm hotplate and I'm diming both volumes to play some rock stuff.
Blessings, Phillll
