I have a RX es and I can't seem to get very thick sounds out of it. I would like to get some overdrive out of it, but im pretty inexperienced with tube amps. Will I need to use some sort of od pedal? I have a boss blues driver, and I can get it pretty close, but not quite. So basically I'm lost.

What guitar are you using? That contributes to a lot of the thickness factor. An LP is going to be thicker than a Strat or Tele. I can get a nice, big clean sound out of the amp. To get the amp to overdrive, you have to get it up above noon, which is LOUD! I would suggest an Airbrake to get those sounds.
I haven't had any problem getting good tones out of the RXES, but I do know it's not the thickest amp, compared to something like a Route 66. EL-84s just don't give that same vibe.

I'm using a b-bender tele, and I do have the airbrake. I just read on another thread that dining all the knobs will help quite a bit to.

dialing all the knobs up on the B Bender will help - but I just discovered that this 3 magnet guitar with the pickups high will wreak havoc with the intonation of the guitar because the pull is so heavy on the strings. the big offender is the Texas Strat PU in the middle. We dialed all my pickups deep into the wood. but this also takes away some of the bite and overdrive I get. I have ordered an Adder for the neck and a VooDoo for the bridge...we'll see if they are any hotter...I am thinking so.

If you're comparing the Fender Texas Specials to the Adder/Voodoo combo, both the Adder and the Voodoo will be significantly hotter/thicker. I can get some nice drive with just that pickup combo and my Rx Jr, so I'm thinking they'll get you a little closer to what you're looking for.

Even though you describe it as wanting something "thicker", can you tell us what you're hearing and what you think is missing? I play Tele's through my RxES and I don't have any problem getting it thick and driving - so let us know where your settings are now and maybe we can suggest something for ya.
