...well i've ended up playing and owning the first Z i ever played (after owning 6 Z's in the interim)....my buddy Bernie sold me his Maz 38 head which was the Z that got me hooked to begin with....i always steered clear of the "high watt" Z's thinking they were more amp than i wanted or needed (although i did have a Rt 66 briefly)...my logic was that i would have to play to too loud to find the tones i wanted....i tend to play smaller venues and i've been doing more studio work lately...so i A/B'd my Ghia head with the Maz 38 to see what the real world differences would be...what i found was that even though the Ghia will get to the nice corpulent crunch and grind quicker when you go for clean settings the Maz Sr is just so much more full and rich sounding...it sounds large and glorious at modest volume levels and of course its no one trick pony....crank the volume and keep the master down and that Ghia-esque snarl is there....if there was ever a single amp that sounded good loud or quiet...clean or crunchy ....i'd say the Maz 38 is it....

just got back from first rehearsal with the MAZ 38...it was a giant hit....bass player thinks I should get annother to play in stereo!.. Other guitar player was a fiddlin' with knobs like crazy....how do I get that sound?....gotta have an amp that already sounds like that, then work off that.... More than pleased and looking for annother Z product....can;t make up my mind yet though.....likin' the PrescRX , but who knows......

Yes, the Maz tone is very addictive. You should hear it while using a Z-Brake!

To be honest, fellas, I'm so excited to PLAY my Maz since it arrived in January, that sometimes, lately, I struggle to TALK much about it! Maybe you know what I mean, here.
Perhaps I've found the amp that finally shuts me up!

That's what I like about finding a good amp and/or guitar, it dampens your gear lust. That's where I'm at now. The down side is guitar store trips aren't much fun anymore. My stuff is just better. The only thing I want is a Mantaray. I won't order one until I play one first.

I have relations down there otherwise I probably wouldn't go. This year I've got a gig on Sunday so I have to fly there on Thursday and back on Saturday night. If I buy something I'll have to either ship it back or leave it at my brother's until he cones up over the summer. A lot of the dealers are not so hot on Dallas anymore because it's getting to be less about guitars and more about music, and drums of all things. Arlington is easily a better show for guitars. I still love the big shows though, well any guitar show really.
