I'll post this is both forums as it aplies to both....
But there have been a couple of times that I have swapped chasses in my two Z's just for grins.... I've taken the 18 watt chassis out of the 210 cab and swapped it with the 38 watt in the 2 12. Just makes for some interesting changes...
But I've always noticed that the reverb in the Sr is SOOO much more dominant than in the Jr. At first, I thought it might be the difference in voltages, etc. Then I thought it might be the difference in types of speakers that was making the difference... But nope... I never thought to look at the tanks (Duh!!), but I noticed they are different. The MAZ Sr tank is short. The MAZ Jr tank is long, more like what we're used to seeing in Fender amps...
The Jr has a more subtle reverb, which I actually prefer. The Sr can take you surfing if you want to go that way. As it stands, I have the reverb control on my Sr *barely* cracked open, like at about 8 o'clock. it's still has quite a bit of dwell even at that setting...
I'm wondering if all MAZ Jr's & Sr's have different 'verb tanks, or is it the fact that my Jr is an '04 model and my Sr is '05? Meaning, I've heard the Doc mention that folks were reqesting more reverb, so is that why he made the change?
Wondering if anyone else has noticed this, and what your thoughts are.
And also, even though I'm fine with leaving the amps how they are.... I'd be perfectly willing to swap tanks from my MAZ Sr with someone who has an older MAZ if they wish they had a more prominent reverb sound.

Cool, Bluz... I guess I never really paid attention to the different types of tanks. I'm not a big 'verb guy...Normally like to turn it up just to the point that you can hear it... Or really more "feel" it than hear it. Just enough to know it's there... Funny thing, though... As I get older, I have progressively used less & less 'verb. I used to think that I couldn't live without it, and wouldn't buy an amp unless it had it. But now, in a way, I wish I had gotten both my MAZ Jr and Sr in "NR" versions with a loop. Then I could always add a Holy Grail or something in the loop if I just *had* to have 'verb. I'm going to see about changing the tank in my MAZ sr to one like the one in my Junior. I've always loved the 'verb on my Jr, but just can't seem to get used to the "bigger" sounding unit in the 38. By the way, Dallas is (obviously) probably the no. 1 city for country tours, and I've probably been there more than any other city in my career. Next time I'm through, we need to get together and hang. If you aren't already working, get you to come out to a show...etc. I noticed you worked with James Pennebaker... Great cat. He's still doing the Big & Rich circus...LOL Spent some time on the road with him when I was with Gretchen and we did the "Musik Mafia" tour. Really neat guy and weird to hear him doing a gig where he's not playing guitar! Plays really good steel & fiddle, but I'd like to hear him playing more 6 strang...
Later- J

I believe Dr. Z started using the short Accutronics tanks sometime in 2005. I saw both a Maz Jr. & Sr. made around the same time with the short tanks.
I prefer the sound of the large tanks.

I'm not happy with my reverb either. Too long of decay and maybe darker tone than I like. Does anyone know which tank would work in the Maz 38 to shorten the delay? There are some statistics on the tubesandmore site that I don't know how to apply.

Just got a new SR. That's a long verb! It works for me though, I like to have my reverb way behind/under my dry signal with a long tail. Makes my cab sound like it's breathing without lossing clarity.
