Hey chops612,
Welcome to the forum. The reverb on my Maz38 seems to be more like what you discribed your roommates to be rather than yours. Maybe there is a problem.

Is the amp new or used? Makes sure you got good/clean connections for the input and output where the reverb tank plugs into the amp. If the amp is used it might be a good idea to replace all the power tubes with a matched set. Also try switching known good pre-amp tubes for V3-Reverb and V4-Reverb Recovery.

I can understand your frustration. DRZ will take good care of ya'. When I had a problem with my new Z he talked me through the fix over the phone. Be nice if all repairs were that easy! I haven't had a problem since.

Hey guys, glad to join you all. I recently just got my MAZ Sr and was curious to what the reverb is "supposed to sound like." Mine is soooo wet and it has to be exactly at 8 o'clock, even a smidge past dwells on too much. It sounds great there, but I couldn't imagine that being correct. My roommate has the exact same amp and his verb is totally different. His doesn't get nearly as wet as mine at max, but it does stay behind the dry signal (what I feel it should do). Is it possible I need to open the spring case to check? I have been using spring reverbs all my life, but never had a problem with them. Let me know, maybe all of ours have slightly different characteristics. Sorry to say but all Acutronic tubs vary , and more so now that they have to comply with the new European ROES standards. Try swapping V4 that is the reverb recovery tube with a lower gain 5751, 12AY7, or lower gain Sovtek 12AX7 WA. If you don't have any of these E-Mail me your address and I'll send you a couple to try to tame that reverb. Funny but I have had players ask for more reverb on amps that are a touch dryer sounding, just goes to show. DR.Z
