Hello all:
I'm new to the site and I'm new to Dr. Z amps. I thought this might be the place to ask...
I'm looking for an amp stand for the MAZ 38 2X12. I've owned several generic stands in the past but none have held up.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again for this site. Sincerely,
Kipp

I bought a Peavey (yeah...I know) amp stand about 12 years ago and that sucker is still as solid as the day I bought it. I's got some corrosion and is pretty beat up cosmetically, but it is VERY stable and doesn't tend to tip easily like some I've tried. I never took care of this thing, but it has held up well. The height is adjustable also. Here is a link I found on the web that shows a photo. www.theguitarfiles.com/modules.php?name=catalog&file=product_info&products_id=699

It's hard to beat Peavy for functional stuff. Their stuff always works. I like that steve Cropper guitar too.

Sweetwater is selling that quiklock stand cheap---$37. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BS317/I just ordered one. I currently use a stand from the '80s that I might have got from Boogie. There's no name on it. It has these clamps that actually can tighten (via large knobs) and grip the base of the amp. Very steady and I have total confidence in it. I will continue to use it for my home stand (it's heavy and bulky). Not sure if anyone makes this stand anymore....some of you guys probably remember it.

I still have/use a Mesa/Boogie "Kickstand". I don't know if they make em anymore. It clamps down on the top lip of your amp and you just tilt it back. The angle is adjustable, it's kind of like a screen door "tube" with pressurized gas inside. There is no more gas in mine, but it works just the same.

I used one of these for the first time Saturday night and really like it. Easy to carry, pretty stable, adjustable angles, cheap, etc. I ordered it direct and had it in a couple days. www.ampstandback.com

I've since decided against a stand for my Maz 38. Sounds great right there on the floor. Go figure.

Is "sound isolation" a fancy marketing phrase for "keeping the floor from vibrating and the windows from rattling"?

I find that the Maz sounds so good up, much better IMHO....
I was a floor guy for many years. I now find that I can connect with my sound better with the amp elevated, plus I can hear what the amp really sounds like. This might not apply if you in a big room 15ft+ in front of your amp.
I'm not interested in losing my sound in my feet.

Don't get me wrong, I like to hear myself but not at ear level. I like to get infront of my amp as much as possible but be able to back away from the sound by getting closer, so I can feel it. I find my mild case of tinnitus (sp) doesn't act up as bad that way. If I'm in a place with a small stage (front to back) I will tilt back my amp.

I always use a venue-supplied chair, but I take a "chock block" with me to tilt the amp back just a little bit. Going with a low-wattage amp, I've also used those hardwood, toddler "highchairs" that bar restaurants seem to have in abundance. It gets the amp up about a foot higher.

I've toyed with the thought of putting some Fender tilt back legs on my Maz Combo, but I'm not sure the benefit would be worth drilling holes in the sides.
Has anybody used an amp with tilt back legs? Does it help hearing yourself any better?
Lefty, how stable is your "kickstand"?

They seem to tilt back too much ,never used mine all those years with a Super Rev

LOL, it took me a minute but sweet+water spelled out together has the word "tw@t" in it...hence the change.

I use a Auralex Gramma... bluzsteel, I think I'd like to try out one of those. My old house rattles like a tambourine.
