Having played for about a year through my Maz38 SR top connected primarily to a Marshall Tall Vintage cab with Greenbacks, I lately have noticed a mid-tone kind of "boost", most obvious when I do the "Chuck Berry" stuff, and it seems to be the same with both my 54th Anniversary Stratocaster, my Nocaster and my Les Paul with Antiquities, so I don't think it has anything to do with guitar-adjustment, even though that might help anyway. I have now turned both bass and middle knobs almost down, the treble around 14, the "cut" around 09 and master all the way up, and all these adjustments helped some, but not enough. Actually this midrange boost also was present through my FatCat 112 Tone-Tools cabinet with one Weber Blue Dog 50 watt 16 ohm 12" speaker. Is it a tube (powertube/preamp?) thing - the amp has become slightly noisy, but with the number of hours played, I would'nt think my original tubes are finished yet or?? or I am just too lousy turning the knobs? or still would I have to adjust my pick-ups further away from the deep (E and A) strings?

Greenbacks have strong mids. Try some G12T-75's. I originally had the T's in my 4x12, but I disliked the scooped mids. Was looking for a warmer mid-range and switched to GB's. The speakers make up for about 70% of the tone sculpting.
