Anybody had experience with both? I owned an invasion back in the day and while I love the tone of it cranked up it was a bit to big and loud for my needs (Heavy as Lead!) I miss the tone and was wondering how the Sr stacks up to it

Ive played both of these and the new SR has a much tighter bottom end. I think an overall nicer clean tone. Just my thoughts!

I still own and play my Invasion.. "Heavy as lead" Lord, I hate carrying that thing around... is that why my right arm is 3" longer than my left arm??

I own a red Maz Invasion and bottom end with a strat is great. Very bright and trebly with a telecaster. The presence knob and 3 band eq gives you a little variables to dial in assorted tones to your liking but it is still a very bright amp. I've never played a senior so I can't say how much better the bottom end but the Invasion I own still seems very tight in the bottom end when running the master flat out and setting the bass on as much as 3'o clock.
It's a el84 based amp(think vox ac30 etc....) so don't expect any amp wit thats sort of power valve assortment to behave like a 100watt 6L6 monster or have a bottom end like an old Marshall SLP.
It's all relative really.
Q:Is the amp too much for your needs?
Whats your needs?
If you are playing a noisy club with around 100-200 patrons and need to cut through the mix playing country, blues and rock then it's a good choice. Master volume will help you find a good level.
If however you are just playing anywhere from at home to up to 100 people then the Maz jr is more than enough amp to handle that situation and still give you a nice open sound.
Hope this helps!

Hi all, well, I finally found a MAZ38 Invasion combo. The owner has had it for ten years. It has black knobs and I can't wait to receive it. I have four Fender blackface amps..this is my first Z. I spoke with Doc Z and he suggested the Invasion is just a bit cleaner than the Senior. I am thinking about changing the outputs to the newest JJ's as well as using the new JJ 803's for 12AX7's and a JJ ECC 81 for the PI. I believe the original Celestions are in the amp. I am thinking about changing them with a Weber Blue dog and Silver Bell. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

After a month of Invasion ownership I am leaving the stock speakers as is. The V1 is a GT12AX7M, followed by all JJ 12AX7s, 12AT7 for the reverb driver, and an 803S for the PI. Sounds incredible!
