I recently picked up my Z28 head off of ebay several weeks ago from a nice gentleman that you guys may know (stout-hearted / aka Jon). I actually spent some time on here beforehand to figure out which amp might work best for me. Little did I know that the amp I was bidding on was a Z-Talk forum member! It's such a beautiful head, and the valence by Harvey is spectacular. I'm not sure if it came stock with the black knobs or if Jon replaced them, but I'm about to put the stock cream vintage Fender style knobs on as soon as they come in. Trivial stuff, but whatever. I just picked up an Avatar Vintage 112 open-back cabinet with a Greenback in it. Also, while I was hunting around I gave Todd (PCNS) a call for a speaker cable and another guitar cable just for grins. He was extremely helpful, and has a great product! Since I've been on here a little bit I thought I'd post a pic of my set-up. The Strat is a 2006 Fender Highway One with Custom Shop Fat 50's pickups. This guitar is actually on ebay right now as I'm looking for a couple of G&L's to purchase soon.

Hi Jordan and welcome beautiful looking amp- well what do you think of it? I'd be interested to put mine through a single Greenback- I've got a spare one somewhere! Is it loud enough for an unmiked pub gig? Brett

Hey Brett,
I love it! I'd be lying if I said that I've gotten all of the sounds out of it already though. The greenback sounds great, and is still not completely broken in (can't wait for that). It's much louder than I thought it would be for an open-back "inefficient" speaker.
I haven't gigged this set-up yet, but I think it can do pretty well in a small venue. The only caveat being that there isn't going to be a ton of headroom with a single greenback. So depending on what type of music you're playing it might not work if you like to play super clean. Just my opinion there.....I guess it all depends on the guitar you're using, what you're playing, how big the place is / how many people are in there room, etc. You could always run a clean boost in front of the amp though if you needed a little more headroom.
I really love the sparkle it has though. It's by FAR the best amp I've ever owned, and am looking forward to seeing what all I can do with it. The great thing about having a head is that I can experiment with different cabs, so that'll be fun.
Thanks for the welcome!
