Hi there I was wondering if any of y'all were using an Airbrake with their Z-28? If so, how's the tone hold up when you'd got it hooked up? I just bought a Z-28 4x10 combo off Ebay, partially to get the lower wattage so I can get into that sweet spot without creasing too many skulls in the audience. Thanks!

This amp kills when cranked up, but I have also been using the Airbrake with my Z28 2 x 10" combo & it also sounds great. The loss of tone can be a tricky question. I look at it this way... there is no loss of tone from the amp but the speakers are not working as hard which does have some effect. The Z28 is a LOUD amp & you may find an Airbrake is going to be neccessary in some situations.

Which sweet spot?
3,3,3 or 12,12,3 ?
I used to run my MicroMass with the Z-28 and it was pretty good. I like it much better wide open working the speaker. While the amp is a loud 22 watts. I would not call the amp loud in general. I would say perfect volume in a band. It sits very nicely in the mix.

That's what I'm hoping. That the loudness of the amp will be a great match for my band's mix. Which sweet spot? 3,3,3 or 12,12,3 ? I used to run my MicroMass with the Z-28 and it was pretty good. We push it pretty good at some venues, and I've been using a couple of different 50 watt amps as well as my silverface Deluxe Reverb sometimes. MY DR has been modded with 6L6 power tubes, a solid state rectifier, and a high efficiency Weber speaker. It's probably running more like 30 - 35 watts.
