Hi there, I just bought a new Vox ac30 heritage head , and on turning the amp on it makes a humming sound that comes on quite loud(when warming up, no standby switch)then fades a bit but is still present while on. The amp also has some strange low frequency overtones that seem to be get louder and even pulse when overdriven, any ideas on what would be causing this? These amps are notorious for shipping with bad valves, but i thought id ask here as i frequent these forums quite often being a maz jr owner , any help on where to start would be appreciated , thanks best regards Lee Spence

Welcome, Lee. Where are you from? At risk of being overly redundant again, "tubes".

Hi, thanks for your replys everyone , on replacing output tubes , and the recifier , and substituting the preamp valves it seems the main problem is still there , the hum is gone but those horribile overtones that sound like a harmonizer gone wrong are still there , so the warranty will be called upon (a friend got the AC15 handwired at the same time as me , and it sounds great , luck of the draw ! ) Im from Melbourne in Australia Brad , but ive been floating around Europe for the last 7 yrs , where my main gigging amp has been a Thd flexi thats been amazing , but after buying a maz 18 jr its been in retirement most of the time, this forum has been great in learning what works best with the maz , its a pleasure to visit here , cheers best regards Lee Spence

Hi, ... my main gigging amp has been a Thd flexi thats been amazing... I've got a Flexi-50 too, and it is an amazing amplifier. But I gig one of my Z's pretty much every time, and lately it's the Maz Jr for the most part.
