I've been looking for a MAZ 18 12' combo and there is a fellow selling one that was built in 2001. It has the chicken head knobs. Would there be a disadvantage in buying this one over a newer one or brand new one? This one has less than 100 hours on according to the original owner. I'd like to buy a new one but I'm a working musician and that would be a lot of dough for me to lay out. Any information much appreciated!

As long as you plan on new power tubes you should be fine. It may sound fine, in which case the set of power tubes you buy will go in your kit for backup. Or put the new power tubes in and put the old ones in the kit for backup. I hear chicken head knobs sound way better than round ones.
