I want to swap out V1 for a tube that will give me more gain. I prefer a little gain on all of my tone so I can stand to forfeit the headroom for something that will improve the gain characteristic of the preamp. Can someone please suggest a route to take to do this? I have a set of EH 12AX7 (4) and a JJ. Will the JJ in V1 do what I want or should I get something else? Is ther more to it than just swapping out V1? I really am a novice at this so any help is appreciated and much needed. Bill

Hey Bill! Go to Myles page and read his TubePrimer. Myles gives more info in one place than any other resource I can find AND in an understandable manner too. www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/index2.htmlIf I were you, I'd review the info and get a few different tubes and compare. Another thing to consider (depending on how loud you play and headroom requirements) an AirBrake will get you from whiskers to fur easily too, but from the POWER TUBES!!
