Hi,
I'm looking for an opinion more than an information. I'm planning to buy a Dr Z amplifier. Since I only play at home in my studio, I was wondering if the Mini Z with an appropriate cab would be a better solution than a Carmen Ghia Head or combo. I've heard the Carmen Ghia and it is absolutely fantastic, but I'm afraid that it would be too loud for my home.
Can you help?
Thanks!
Michel

If you're definitely just going to do the home and studio thing, then a Mini-Z would probably be best. It also has the attenuator built in. If you get out and play gigs every once and a while, you could get away with the Mini-Z, but the Ghia would be better, as you would have more headroom. If you got a Ghia, you would probably want an Airbrake as well.
You don't mention what sound you're going for, mainly if you want a cleaner sound, you should go Ghia, as the Mini-Z breaks up pretty early.

Thanks for your reply. it really helps
It is definitely a home and studio use (for now anyway...) I like clean sounds but I'm mainly looking for a sound like Mini Z demo 16 (11 and 13 as well) sound clip on the website. As I understood it, Ghia would give me a better clean sound, but I could still get one on the Mini Z by rolling down my volume and tone on the guitar. Is that right?
Thanks

Yes, you can roll down your volume knob on your guitar and get a decent clean sound. Nowhere near Fendery clean, but then again, the Mini-Z wasn't made for that!
