Hi all, I played my MAZ 18 Jr. NR with a new friend/potential bandmate for...oh, about 3 hours or so (man, I haven't played that long in forever). He was playing a DRRI, and it's a fine amp but I sure am glad that I sold mine and bought a Z. I shut down, we talked for a while, and I went to break down my rig to go home and noticed one of the transformers (I think it's the PT) looks kind of ragged and like it has some "gunk" on it. I've never had an amp with this clean a layout in the back, and I don't know if I would have noticed this before now. Is it normal? The amp seemed to function fine. It got a little more grit and compression over the course of a few hours, but I think I recall that's the nature of these amps...? Anyway, I've attached some pics I took as soon as I got home. The "goop" seems solid, so I dunno it it's a leak, or just what a PT looks like. these are the best I could take, but I think you'll see what I'm talking about. Please take a look. Is something gonna blow in my Z?!!? The "goop" is hard. Is this just a how they protect a paper bobbin transformer? It just struck me as...well, to be frank: it;s kind of ugly & messy looking. But I personally can't think of a way to "neat up" a paper bobbin. LOL!

I believe that is some sort of resin to protect and isolate the windings in the transformer.

Yep, they come that way from the manufacturer.
