Hey everybody,
I just received a Delta 88 via UPS. The power tubes were well packed - but one of them has a shard of glass floating around on the inside. I spoke with the previous owner and he said that the tubes did not rattle when he packed it up, so I'm assuming this happened during shipping. Everything on the inside of the tube appears to be intact. Could this just be some extra glass that was trapped inside during manufacturing? Is there potential for this to cause a problem and damage the amp?
Thanks
Seth

Bump for a good question. Seth, if you need a new tube - send me the bill.

Bump for a revised title and a very anxious player who wants to put his new toy through the paces without fear of damaging said toy

This was not something done when the tube was made ... it is internal damage from shipping or handling.
File a claim with UPS if it was shipped with insurance ... which should be done for any UPS shipment.
Even though no electrical problem might be immenent the broken piece indicates that there was enough shock to the package that the tubes would no longer be matched anyway so get a new duet of #5's or 6's and bias at 50mA

When I got mine the seller had KT90's in it but gave me the GT KT88SV's (#5) that came in it. To make a long story short, one was bad and I had to try to track down some new tubes. GT's list price for them is $180. I ended up having my local Guitar Center (who I usually avoid) order them. They got them to me for about $120 with tax which was pretty cool. Musicians Friend won't let you choose a specific grade- it's "#4-#7" only. I ended up getting a set of #6's too and I like those even more (biased at 50mA).
