What is everyone using for a reverb unit/pedal with their Ray? I used my Ray at a gig over the weekend and decided I would like a good reverb unit with this amp.

Try the tube '63 Fender reverb. It sounds wonderful.

Try the tube '63 Fender reverb. It sounds wonderful. Yes I inquired at Long&Mcquade up here in Canada about the Valvetrain. They didn't carry it but they have the 63 Fender reverb at a couple of stores. It costs a little less than the Valvetrain (not much less) and looks pretty much the same thing. So I will be having them ship it from the store that has it to my local L&M to try it. May even take it out on a job as they usually let me demo things.

I find that I really don't need reverb live, and in the studio there are plenty of plug-ins to use. I use some Delay and that takes care of my FX (other than drive).

Yeah, the G-System reverb is ok if you've worked out the tradeoffs with the loop. I didn't particularly love the G-System reverb, but it was a heck of a lot better than none. Now that I can finally get the editor installed (after I download Vista SP1) maybe I'll be able to finally set up my G-System the way I want it to be.

I have not tried it with a stangray, but I tried it with a few other amps once. Very impressive, and very expensive. They go for about $370 new. Definitely a great pedal, I tried a few of the T rex's that day. If you're on a budget, the tech 21 boost RVB is a great one to try. I was very hesitant to try one, but especially at $150 new, its a fabulous reverb pedal and has a boost function as well. Honestly, cost aside, there are some aspects of the tech 21 i preferred over the Roommate. I would certainly recommend trying both. I also agree with Telejas though. After listening to recordings of myself live, I noticed my tone sounds much much better without reverb. I sometimes use it at home playing around, but not live anymore. From personal experience I have found that if you want echo-ish reverb-ish tone live, try an analog delay like the Maxon AD9 pro. it only goes up to 310ms of delay, not very much......no tap tempo or anything like that....think old Pink Floyd. For whatever reason, I find that works much better and doesn't effect your tone nearly as much as reverb does.
