I've been alternating between bringing my Mesa amps & the Stang-Ray to band practices, depending on what type of songs are being played, and my mood (and which band).
I brought the Ray to band practice on Wednesday evening. It's a new band with 2 girl singers, 2 guitars, keys, bass & drums. I'm using my guitar synth a lot with this band as many of the newer tunes this band is doing don't have guitar parts (or real noticeable ones). The synth sounds nice through the Ray. The guitar controller is a Washburn JB100midi, Jennifer Batten model with built-in Roland synth pickup, which sounds (in guitar-only mode) sort of like a Strat. I usually bring it, an acoustic-electric guitar and another 'normal' electric guitar.
Wednesday night I happened to bring my Paisley Telecaster for the first time as my normal guitar. About 3/4's of the way through rehearsal, my keyboard player came over and started checking out the Stang-Ray. He'd seen & heard it before, but I'd never used it with the Paisley Tele (or any Telecaster) in this band.
He was astounded at the tone of the combination of the Telecaster & Stang-Ray. He was saying, "OMG, that sounds so cool. Such a great 'country' twang." Even though I was grinding out leads on Heart tunes, etc.
I guess that he may have been aware of my 'new' sound before with this amp (he's mainly used to hearing me play through Mesa equipment), but it was so noticeable with the combination of it & the Telecaster.
I just thought this was worth mentioning, and pretty cool.
