I was thinking a G12-65 celestion heritage in some sort of 1x12 like a Bogner Cube, Port City or maybe even an Avatar might tame the GT enough to crank it in a band setting. What speaker would you recommend with the GT? And also what 1x12 cab (builder? dimensions? closed or open??)? Have any of you yet compared the GT into a 1x12 versus 2x12 to see if the volume is cut yet the tone is good??

I have played the GT through a Z 1x12 (Old style), 2x12 Avatar and a Z 2x10. For me, the 2x10 is the clear winner here. I tame the volume with an Air Brake and, IMO, an attenuater is the only way to do it. Different speakers/cabs might make a difference in volume but the GT is basically on or off so to get any real fine adjustment I need to attenuate.

The Z 10 inch speakers are fairly efficient, so my guess would be that the 2x10 would be on par volume wise with a 2x12 of something like greenbacks, or maybe even vintage 30/G12H30 pairing. I'm looking for a 1x12 cab that would go well with the Mazerati and reproduce all the frequencies as best as possible (aka ported likely and also oversized) and also would have an innefficient speaker so I wouldnt kill anyone with the volume....any ideas?

I play my GT through a Port City 2x12. I have tried it with a 1x12 with a greenback, V30, and G12H. I don't like any of them as much as the 2x12. Very blended sound with the V30/G12H combo. I have not found a single speaker to play yet. I have a few different style 1x12 cabinets and I prefer the port city's sound over any other closed 1x12. I just have not found a single speaker I can live with in the 1x12 yet.
