Hey -
just wondering if there is any Soundclips or especially video's of the Z-Wreck amps that are out there..
any links to them would be great if they exist.
Peace Shane

Since this isn't going to be a regular production amp, checking out a Brad Paisley show would probably be the best bet if you want to hear a Z-Wreck.

Why is the Doc not going to turn the 'Z-Wreck' into a regular production amp, if he was able to succesfully recreate the quality tweaks that Ken Ficher built into Brad's 'Hattie May?'
...Of course, to answer my own question; It is my understanding that each and every Trainwreck that was built had its own individual uniqueness that made them special. It may be that Brad/Z feels that making alot of copys of 'Hattie May' takes away the indiduality of that amp, as opposed to the 3 copies that are currently in existence, and in Brad's posession!
Your thoughts, guys?

thats the other conclusion that ive gotten, too. Chad cleared that up for me. That's really good of the Doc to be respectful of his friends memory.

I don't think the Z-wrecks are copies of Hattie Mae. HM is a Liverpool and the Z-wrecks are more along the lines of the Trainwreck Rocket and built before Brad purchased his Liverpool HM (which was recently).

Personally, a Z-Wreck would probably be the only "production amp" I'd be interested in buying new at the moment. I have a Liverpool clone that's simply unbelievable. And like Dayn said, I was under the impression that the Z-Wreck was the the Z version of a Trainwreck Rocket. From those in the know that I've spoken to, the Rocket was probably Ken Fischer's best all-around amp. Perhaps if there's enough interest, the good Doctor may acquiesce?

All the interest in the world...ain't gonna happen. Doc has enough on his plate, not to mention the legalities.

I've got pictures of Brad's Z-Wreck and other amps he has on tour right now. Shoot me an email at bwrinn@gmail.com if you want me to send you them.

Hi, guys.
Maybe we all here would want one of those, or at least try one? But out of respect for Ken Fischer's legacy and being an original and innovative amp builder himself, IMHO I see no reason for someone like Mike Zaite wanting to do that.
Greetings, JanLF

I guess I just don't see a whole lot of difference between selling a Z-Wreck versus the Maz GT, which is widely advertised as Doc's take on Ken Fischer's design. And they also prominently mention that Ken spec'd out the trannies.

My take on this is similar to brad737,... I think the Maz GT is that "Trainwreck inspired" amplifier. In fact, if you go on Youtube and search for "Trainwreck amplifier," you'll find a guy who has posted some stuff w/ a "real" Trainwreck amp. I don't remember his name and I'm too lazy to link the post(not to mention technologically challenged). I think the title was along the lines of "Can You Hear It Ring?" Anyway, what struck me was the touch sensitivity, sustain, and the ability to go from a pristine clean to a raging thick distortion w/ the guitar volume knob. Yep, you guessed it, all qualities of the Maz GT (and other Z amps)!

Jan is right on the money. Glen is a friend from another amp forum I frequent, and a myspace buddy. I've never actually met him, but he's a great guy. He sort of reminds me of Myles in that he is very generous with his knowledge, and he really knows his stuff. Plus, he's a monster guitar player. His cd is only $10, and it's worth every cent.

As I seem to recall, there was a Z-Wreck at Z-fest. I know my memory is fading but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

benttop,
Was there a big difference between Z-Wreck and the Maz GT?

Well it's hard to describe, but they aren't really the same amp. There are a lot of similarities, but there are a lot of differences too. Add to that the fact that while I was playing it, there were two other guys playing EZG-50's, one guy playing a Delta 88, one guy playing the StangrayGT, and one guy playing a Rt. 66, all wide open. It was a little hard to make any real judgments. But I did enjoy playing it.

I could see why you had difficulties hearing the subtle differences,... ;D
I gotta go to next year's Z-Fest.
