Hi Myles,
I love my Maz38 and I'd like to tweak it to encourage more of a lean toward it's Marshall influence. Are there any tube or other changes I could make for my Maz to lean more in that direction? If so would you be so kind as to share what you would recommend?
Thanks, DougG

Thanks, DougG The MAZ38 can do some Marshallesque sorts of tones but it is a very different amp and much looser due to cathode biased design and many other things. If you want a Marshall get an SRZ-65

Myles,
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping for something different but that's how it goes.

Here's what I've found. I don't gig Marshall amp music but around the house I love to play the solos for Cream tunes; I'm So Glad, Politician, Crossroads. With My Maz 38 I get a sound that reminds me a lot of that sound. Crank the preamp, turn the cut way down, mids about 2:00, bass low and master volume pretty low because I'm in the house. To me it's close enough to really enjoy. It's not the way the old marshall's would sound in person, I know that. More the way they sound when recorded with a distant mic like they did on those old recordings. I agree with Myles that the amps are hugely different and side by side they would sound and feel a lot different.

Doug I think your best bet would be to talk to Mike at KCA tubes. He has helped be tremendously in finding the right tube to bring out the qualities I want from my amps. Have fun!

Also take a read on Docs post in his section about HIS mods to the MAZ series for more Marshall or Fender or Vox vibes from your amp.

doc, how did your quest turn out? I love the old Marshall tone and would like to experiment as well.
