Posted the question in the cab and speaker section but thought maybe to put it here as well. Have a 18jr 210. Want to put the amp into a head cab even though a combo has a top mounted amp while the head version is bottom mounted so everything becomes upside down. Anyway any thoughts on scoring a head cab as I have yet to hear back from the Z plant on my inquiry about blem cabs available for purchase if any exist

Hey ditto for me as well. I have two Jr's both 2x10's but have been thinking of putting the NR one in a head cab so I can leave a speaker box at Church and just pack the head, geeter, pedal board back n forth.. Cheycaster

Personally I would sell the combo and get a head/cab instead of going the other route. Or you could find someone to make a reproduction head box that looks like the Docs combo box without speakers, kinda like a Fender Bassman/Bandmaster cab.
Hey Chey? Why would you buy two of the same amp? I'm not passing judgment, I just think its a little redundant to have two of the same thing, in the exact same configuration. I love my Maz Jr. but if I were to buy another it would be a Maz Sr. or a head/cab combo.

I could sell it but picked it up for a great price and have since retubed and would like to keep the 2 10's as a cab alternative. If worse comes to worse perhaps I can find a vendor for the tolex and corners, handle and such. I knoe the outside dimentions from the web site and I can look at my gia head to duplicate the material, thickness, and assy technique. Naturally I would rather not but maybe if I'm lucky the Z site will some day get ahold of me. Does anyone know of any suppliers of the parts mentioned above?

Lefty sir: well I bought my first Maz jr. in 2001 with verb, and I wanted to get another for the stereo thang as I'm used to the $8000 rack set up I have played for years. So I was gasin' really bad and bought a new Z-28 2x10 but it wasn't the amp for me so.....I did a straight across trade to another Z forumite (paddywhacker) for the 2004 Jr. NR 2x10 and he got the Z-28. I play hard and I still get told to turn down even with mt Maz jr. I push the amps pretty hard to get into the tone zone I like so the Juniors really fit the bill for me. I think Iv'e finally split hairs on being able to play the way I like and to keep everyone from complaining that I'm too loud. Thats why! Plus fact be known, I'd like to get a head and a 2x10 cab just for the purpose I stated in another post. ;D

Perhaps the solution is as simple as ordering a Z28 head cab from Dr Z. I noticed Z28 heads with the chassis mounted on top so I figure it is possible the Maz Jr combo chassis will fit in the Z28 head cab.
I'm interested in how you end up getting your combo chassis in a head cab so please let us know.

Good suggestion but I'm sticking with the 18 watt gear. Well except for a possible Evan that I think I see in my future. A head only of course

Cheycaster Go to the General Board secion and scroll back to 1/13/07 Evan 6L6 Thoughts. That should be the low down and everything that is known so far as what's been divulged so far. If that doesn't work look up dr z profile and click on to the appropriate recent message of that title and scroll to the top of the thread

Check out Reason Cabs, Anthony has a head cab that with a little modification might work for you. He gets $250 for a finished cab, all he has to do is flip the front panel so you can mount your chassis to the top. www.reasonamps.com/
