I feel completely ridiculous for even asking this, but I feel thta I must. When I bought my Maz Jr., I was at my parents' house for Christmas where I set up it up in a really large living room. Now I'm back in my apartment and I keep it in my small bedroom. I've started noticing a strange smell coming from my amp. It smells like something's burning. I also purchased an air brake immediately after my return so it could be that. Anyway, is this cause for concern? Did I do something wrong when I switched out my tubes? I just don't wanna mess up this amp. I love it and I paid a lot for it. Thanks.

The Airbrake will generate heat as it attenuates the signal. What settings are you using on the Airbrake and the amp? Try running the amp without the Airbrake and see if you smell it, then with the Airbrake. If you have a meter test the AC coming into your house, should be 120 to 124 volts. Any higher would not be good. Your fuses should pop if anything was shorting out.

Paint burning off and dust heating up are very good signs

Well dang. I just looked at the new EL84s I put in and some of the paint is being burned off. What do you know. Thanks for the response guys. I want to say that I really appreciate this forum. It's nice to know that I can ask a question even if it's a little silly and not be cussed/chewed out like on some other guitar forums. You guys are awesome. It really does make me proud to be a Z owner.

I LOVE that smell!! Every once in a while I'll fire up my Super Reverb just for the smell of old amp/tubes.
