In a thread I started, I asked how to make my Maz more on the american side. I got a lot of responses. Well I tried it...
Holy friggin crap!!! Its like a completely different amp! It sounds incredible!!!
My typical setup... Strat/335 into Fulltone Deja-2 -> Keeley Looper(Tube Works Tube Driver) -> AC Booster -> TS9 -> Line6 DL4
On the amp, i ussually ran
Cut - 3 (Ouch), Volume - 10, Bass - 10, Middle - 9.5, Treble - 9, Master 9 With High input. Kinda shrill... but some stuff sounded good here.
NOW
Cut - 9, Volume 9, Bass - 12, Middle - 12, Treble - 11, Master - dimed , Low input.
I remember one night before i made the change, I pulled out my twin reverb and dimed the volume. Pretty incredible SRV tone. I was like... Crap, why cant I get this with my z??
Well the truth is I can, and the Z can do it VERY well. I still cant believe the night and day difference turning a few knobs would make. Thanks to d.weller, Kruzty, Lefty, tele62 and everyone else who sent a Z Brutha some help when almost all was lost! ;D

Strato, You dimed the volume on the Twin? I hope you weren't standing in front of it when you hit that first power chord! Is your hearing still in tact? [glow=purple,2,300]Can you hear me now?[/glow]Just kidding around, I love the tone of a hard driven twin but it's way, way, way too friggin loud! I use to play mine at gigs with the volume on 2 and the sound guy was telling me to turn down! I'm glad your liking the Z, it goes from Fender to Marshall with a twist of the volume knobs, sweeeeet ;D [glow=limegreen,2,300]-J-[/glow]

Yeah I was in a huge auditorium, in which I have keys to so I can go up there at 3:00 am and crank amps hard. Such a sweet sweet freedom! Just kidding around, I love the tone of a hard driven twin but it's way, way, way too friggin loud! I use to play mine at gigs with the volume on 2 and the sound guy was telling me to turn down! Ha! I know the feeling. I used to run mine between 2.5 and 3... And got PLENTY of complaints... I remember one time I cranked the amp up to 5, and I almost crapped my pants at how loud it was. But off course, no matter how loud I crank it, My twin doesnt rattle the stage like my ZBest does! Its funny watching the soundmen talking about what is creating that "low-end rumble in the drum mics!" And its not the bass player, he plays direct!

Strato:
It's interesting about your wanting tha American sound, and Twin Amps. I owned an old Twin as well, and that is still a benchmark of US based tones.
Take that American tone one step further with the Z. What is a Twin, or Vibrolux or Deluxe? Mid-scooped! So guys that want that Twin type reaction should remember to turn down the mids. You won't need more than 9 O'clock. Cranking up mids on a Z is NOT a bad thing. It's a British thing that happens...it turns Voxxy. That's good. But it's not American. Now open up the treble a bit Noon is fine...same with the bass...give it 12 O'clock, don't starve the front end of the frequencies that compose Fender blackface tone. Here's the last part. IF you open up the treble, you don't need as much cut. Cut is a rotary bright switch affecting the back end. Decide where you want your highs to come from. If it's front end, open up the treble control, kill the cut...if from the cut, then open that up and cut back treble. If you run both, prepare for hiss and noise, and a toothache in short order.

"I feel like I own a different amp..."
Yeah, I feel like that with my wife when she gets a different hair color. ;D Well, all except that "own" part...
