OK, So when I got my '06 Jr NR 2x12 loaded with 2 Blues I struggled with the tone, I'd been gigging my Route 66 and had my rig where I wanted it, the Jr was a serious change in tone and my ears were fighting me, I heard everything rattling I forced myself to gig it after loaning it to Dano for a gig so I could hear what the crowd hears. Those two gigs I did with it went well and I received several + Tone compliments. I also Grabbed a 'Rati 1x12 and have since been messing with it. That's another story......... So tonight I did a lil speaker shoot out with the Jr NR using several 1x12 cabs as well as the combo cab loaded with a V30 and a Weber Alnico Blue Dog (30 watt). I also tried a G12H, Greenback and a Celestion Blue in the 1x12 cabs... The Greenback was really nice, the G12H had too much low end and the Blue was the winner...vox chime and Marshall growl were working and I dig it, The Greenback was a pretty close second and I can live with either. I really want to swap it into a 1x12 combo cab so I wanted to find the 1 best speaker for me. I think the Blue wins. Just in case anyone gives a s*@t and is looking at a Blue or Greenie for their Jr. Happy New Year, Curt

Thanks Curt for this topic. I am waiting on arrival of my Maz 18 Jr NR next week - combo with two G12H30 70th anniv. And sometime later in the week an EarCandy 1x12 with Tone Tubby Alnico E. Hopefully I get that real clean chime I am looking for.

Thanks Curt... I've laoded everything with Tone Tubbies and LOVE the sound from a Junior.... Interesting comments about the Blue, cause I've always wanted to buy those but the power rating has scared me off. So I wonder how a new Gold would sound? Must be similar and safer to run loud. Thnaks, Mark

Your both more than welcome, Chime??? Oh yea !..... The Blue has more chime with the Jr than even the Ghia did with it..I finally really know what chime is ! Doc simply won't send out a combo that will blow the speaker and he offers a blue as an option for the Jr so I have no fear. At most I run both Volume and Master at noon and that's cookin' pretty good. What surprised me was how close the Greenback sounded to the blue in this amp/settings/room/guitar...and with a 25 watt rating even less worries...and way cheaper to boot. Certainly a viable option. In another thread a couple of guy's said after running the G12H for a long time they did not care for the Blue...I think if they'd take a break or play a different amp for a bit and let their ears 'Un learn" "their" sound. and reapproach the blue with new ears it would be another story. Like I said, I just could not get along with the Jr when I first got it as I'd been gigging Rout 66's for awhile...JMO, YMMV, Etc. Still gonna use the 'Rati tonight though....but I really think it need's a Gold, red fang or TT. Anyone wanna swap your 1x12 MAZ combo cab for my 2x12 cab? HNY, Curt

hooked up maz18 to a 90's 4x12 marshall cab with green backs. at low volume the single gh30 sounds better and fuller than the marshall cab. opened up cab, the only particle board was the back section. anyway I have loved greenbacks with the marshall but I think the gh30 is fuller. anybody else compare 4x12 to 1x12 combo?
