So i've had my Maz. Jr. for around 8 months now, and untill now really didn't use it with my lone star strat (bridge humbucker). I was basically only using it with single coils, and occasionaly with my 335, but not with alot of gain. Well today I started rehearsing for an upcoming gig. One of the tunes we are playing is Van Halen's "hot for teacher". I wasn't sure if the Maz could handle that kind of tone! Well I took out my xotic BB preamp and my Lone Star Strat (just guitar, the BB, and the amp). HOLY S***! After some tweaking, I was totally pulling off the early EVH vibe! I always kind of thought of the Maz. as my "classic rock" amp, but now I have become aware that the tonal palet of this thing is incredible, especially if you put the right (i.e. not crap) pedals in front of it! It was really unreal how well I was able to get a nice, heavy crunch. And all this from a 1X12 combo! The BB is a fantastic pedal too! I am glad I took the advice of so many members on this forum and picked one up! Ok, rant over!

Mattman, I couldn't agree more, I have only had mine a short time and every time I work it I find something else. I have had a great time experimenting with the setting suggestions from my fellow Z-geeks here on the forum, and have found many that are really good. I am finding for me that the amp responds best with 1 or 2 pedals in the chain, I get better tone from my guitar that way. I am primarily a blues or country player so hard Grind is not really my thing but I did have to hook up my vintage Rat pedal to get some searing lead tones happening just to see how it worked, Smooookin!! I am still loving every minute of it! [glow=limegreen,2,300]-J-[/glow]
