when i play open position chords on my maz I get a bunch of high pitched overtones. Just wondering if other maz users are finding this. I took it to a friends and tried his strat and it did the same thing. I also threw a different set of power tubes in it and it still happened

Try changing V1 and your phase inverter. It is the fastest way to check for wierd noises that are often some kind of tube problem. Get back to the forum when you have tried this.... if it doesn't work, some of the experts can weigh in.

I was getting the same thing, although not with open tuning. But mine came from the small string area from the tuning peg to the nut, and mostly on the G string, a little on the B string. Now I have to put a piece of foam there. That stopped it.
This was on a Telecaster. Don't know if that will solve your problem, but it solved mine.

There are several threads discussing the overtones in the Maz. To some degree, second order harmonics are part of the amp's design. Not able to hear what you hear at the moment, can't say if that's it. In the past in other situations I've had sympathetic vibrations from retaining clips in the headstock cause other overtones, bad tubes cause overtones, strings vibrating in a poorly cut nut cause overtones. Overtones/harmonics from drive pedals in the signal chain will really shine in the Maz...as will any playing or gear attributes - these amps really let the tone/sound thru! No hiding with a Z.

No hiding with a Z. +1 to that. What he said is exactly what I have come to realize. I heard alot of these overtones when i first got the amp. Then, I tried some of my other amps and realized that the overtones were there as well, just not as noticiable. I know realize that its not a flaw, but its the fact that the MAZ does a VERY good job amplifying the signal it recieves. I know that doesnt help you too much, but its just the nature of the beast. It's a wonderful beast, though.
