just wondering what the difference in tone will be between the speakers being brand new and once they have been worked in. I'm playing with humbuckers that are usually pretty warm sounding and I still find this amp very bright. I'm running the treble and cut both fairly low.

I think Z amps are bright. They will reveal hardness in pickups and cables that you may not hear on lesser amps. Don't hesitate to use the tone pots on your guitar to help too. Having the treble and cut at less than 9:00 is not unusual. Z's amps don't lose anything when you run the controls low like you may be used to on other amps so don't hesitate to turn them down. The only thing I've heard is that as the 10s break-in, reportedly as much as 100 hours, they'll smooth out on the top and some of that clink when you pick will lessen. I haven't heard that myself. It must be very gradual.

Yes, the 10's will break in and smooth out after some use. After loaning my Maz Jr. to Jason Chance for one gig, I noticed some serious tonal change. All I had to do was to compensate with the cut and or treble control.
