i just ordered my new Maz Jr and i think it has the versatile sounds and clean headroom i need. Waiting for MAZ, currently i am playing live with Ghia set clear(volume at 9) and sometime with the Peavey C30 also set clean. For what i heard in the shop MAZ Jr. has more clean headroom than both. But, looking the forum i saw many people chosing MAZ Sr. for more clean and ....... telling that Jr is not enough. I am not so worried about my choice, i am playing in band of four element where i am the only electric guitar, so i think Jr. is enough and is well balanced with Ghia using together. But i got a little doubt. If i should need more clean? Can i eventually solve this using a Clear Boost in the Loop in order to do not push the pre section?

I play in a fairly loud band, I just got a MAZ Jr NR 2x12 and it can have way more head room than I need. With the master you can really get a lot of head room (depending on speaker(s) or plenty of dirt if needed. As far as a boost in the loop, I've never heard of doing that, better check with Doc or Myles on that one.

I asked about that a while ago...
I was looking to drive the power section rather than the pre's. But, from what I can tell, no one's tried it yet.

I regularly use a clean boost in an effects loop for solo boosts. J Everman ALSO makes a pedal called the Pot, which rather than boosts the signal, attenuates it down so that you can set upa a crushing lead tone, then turn the Pot on and set it to a managable rhythm volume...

The best clean boost I've ever heard is the Lovepedal Balance. It doesn't color the tone at all. It sounds like you just turned up your amp a little or guitar volume. If you are looking to get more oomph without changing a thing, look no further than this pedal!
You can find them used for a good price.

I've used clean boosts in loops before with good success. My Z's don't have loops, but I run a Fatboost into the front end. I keep the volume about 10:00 and the amp is plenty clean. Then when I kick on the boost, it just gets louder without distorting.
The Mz Jr. has plenty of clean headroom. The master on mine is never over 2:00. I do use a NOS 12AT7 in the phase inverter section, to keep a little more clean headroom available.
I like the sound of my Sr. a little better, but never get a chance to turn it the master past 12:00. The Sr. just sounds a little fuller.

The Maz 18 should cut through very well. I have a Ghia and keep the volume around 10-11 am and play in a really loud band. It cuts through just fine.
For clean boost, I would recomend the Xotic RC and use it before the amp.
