Hi all,
As I mentioned, I just joined the club and I was reading some of the posts. What is the recommended breaking in time for the Maz Jr. 2 x 10? I was hoping to use it for a gig end of November, but I do have other options.
Thanks

You can gig your amp tonight if you want. ...won't hurt a thing. As for "breaking in", I think it involves more about speaker break in which can takes many hours with stiff speakers. Enjoy your new amp.

That's right only the speakers will change. Some people have said as much as 100 hours on Z 10s before they settle in. Tubes and electronics don't break in so use that amp, the more the better.

Thanks, I was afraid I wasn't gonna be able use it, how silly is that. I bought it without playing it, (played my friend's 1 x12 Jr.) so I've only played it for a few hours... amazing . I love the sounds. I'm replacing my newer Ampeg SuperJet, the Z is much more versatile.

There is a section on amp break in on the Z home page, the Dealer is "supposed" to break in the amp, "Play test" I beleive it is called, not so much a break in as a thorough test. Doc states the first 4 hours of a tube amps life are the most critical...it's a good read for all of us IMO.
If you look on your warranty sheet there is a place for the dealer to sign "play tested by--------"

I'll leave the amp on for maybe 4-5 hours to sort of give it a long gig torture test . I've read electronic gear needs a "burn in".....don't know if that's actually important but it gives the amp a chance to warm up good . Also....use the standby and let the tubes warm up for a few before putting the juice to them !!

My new Ghia came out of the box and played a gig the weekend. No breakin required.

High end stereo guys talk about electronic breakin but they are SUPER fussy. Also there's a big difference between listening for super subtle things that these guys listen for and what a guitar player listens for.

The guys are all right in my opinion. Play it right away, right out of the box, and play it aggressively. Speakers will break in even sooner if you don't spare it! And here's another secret. The speakers may not be perfectly " broken in' but sure won't sound lousy at the same time. Gives you even better things to look forward to, although the Z 10" speakers sound remarkably warm right out of the shed.

Well, I played the new JR at our band practice...my, my, my, I'm blown away. I've had tube amps for the last several years, Garnets (2), Ampeg SuperJet, all 50 watts and this JR is so different. Plenty of tone, cuts through but doesn't kill. I haven't had too much chance to tweak the sound and develop what I like, but man, I'm so glad to have this amp.
This is the nicest sound I've had. ;D. Just got to get a cover to show a little respect.
