Congrats, I hope you get years of inspiration out of it. I think I would have gone with it too.

I'm going with the Hd-28v for $2,500 cash. I think i can find another Gibson J-45 at some point easier than i'd find one of these Martins as this price. Thanks for playing along.
So you're already planning on your next 'good' acoustic?
Congratulations on your selection. Now that you've made your choice, I feel I can speak. I previously didn't want to say anything as I wanted your selection to be your choice. (Not that you would listen to my rambling gibberish anyway)
I've never cared for slope shouldered dreads. They look like an economy/budget guitar to me. I know it's not true, but it's the way I feel. Also, I don't like the dark coloring of the Gibson. It just adds to a look I don't care for. None of this has anything to do with the way it sounds.
I'm a Martin acoustic guy, but I don't care for V necks. I've only played a few in my life (acoustic and electric), but I find them very awkward. I would probably get accustomed to them within a few days/weeks, but I never got that far.
As for the tone...based on your video: I MUCH prefer the Martin tone. That upper mid push is more appealing to me than the central mids of the Gibson.

Thanks for playing along. Hey! So, what did we win? Well, again, I'm biased since I love my HD-28V. Enjoy that baby!

First things first, have to find a place to stash another guitar case! lol second things second, D'Addario EJ26's at the recommendation of the guy who sold it to me. i wanted a light or light/medium. the EJ26 is a custom light gauge 11-52 Phosphor Bronze set. I like them already. I will play them a while and consider my next move. I don't know how or why people play with .13's.

I played 13's on all but one acoustic. (I had some awesome callouses) But then I backed down to 12's...on all but my dread. I kept the dread at 13's, but I haven't played the dread since I backed down to 12's. So I'm wondering what the 13's/dread will feel like when I get around to playing it.

... I don't know how or why people play with .13's. The easiest answer is if you're playing a guitar, grow to love the sound and feel, and only come to discover it has 13s on it after you swap to your normal 12s and wonder why it doesn't sound the same, you figure 13s are it. Seriously, when I played the guitar at the shop. Both my wife and I were like "That's the Sound! That's the Guitar!". I happily strummed away oblivious to the 13s until I changed the strings the first time. I recently tried a bunch of different brands and lighter gauges. I was almost sold on some 12s. Someone on this forum enlightened me about 'light' 13s, and they almost did the trick. But, I'm now back to the 13s. Maybe I just need to bonk myself on the head so that I don't realize I'm playing 13s. You fell in love with your guitar with the strings you have. You're good to go! And, it sounds real nice in your videos!

I just love playing this guitar. By the way... Did Zeppelin steal a Beatles song??

I just love playing this guitar. By the way... Did Zeppelin steal a Beatles song?? No, I don't think it was a conscious Nick. Obviously, there are similar chords in the same key, and that was a cool mix of the two tunes. The guitar sounds great! Rock on

The descending chromatic bass line is the similarity but the chord harmonies are different. In fact, stairway to heaven's similarity to the Spirit song is the opening descending bass line.

Nice guitar. Nice mash up. The inspiration a good acoustic provides is wonderful. Enjoy! Like I needed to tell you that.

Here's an update on my acoustic. i gave myself a year with .11's before i decided that i wanted to move up. Now i have Nickel Bronze .12-.56 on the guitar and it feels good. Have a new $35 Blue Chip pick, which I really like so far. I was using a Dunlop Gator 1.14 (Blue) and the Blue Chip TD45 is almost identical in size and thickness but has a speed beveled edge and supposedly doesn't wear. Also got a new band, Brothers From Different Mothers. We've been working up songs acoustically as a three-piece and next month we start electric rehearsals with a drummer. These guys are such a joy and so easy to play with. I feel blessed to have this. Here are a couple rough rehearsal vids. Mr. Soul

Looks and sounds like fun. Is this band in addition to, or instead of The Harrison Division? ( Hope I got the name right)

Looks and sounds like fun. Is this band in addition to, or instead of The Harrison Division? ( Hope I got the name right) This is instead of. The Harrison Division was together for almost 8 years. We finished our first cd just in time for it to be both our debut and swan song. It was a great experience and lots of work and it was a struggle to book gigs as an originals band.
The new band is fun and easy but also serious about the music and we have a good work ethic going on. And we already have gigs lined up.

Fun and easy is the name of the game in my book, especially for me at this time in my life. Enjoy the new band.

Still own just the dread Martin? Have you tried any other body sizes? I really dig smaller bodied acoustics. My dread doesn't get much playing these days.

My dread doesn't get much playing these days. just the dread. i really like the way the 28 plays, i'm playing it a lot and i can't justify spending thousands of dollars on another acoustic. I can see getting a smaller guitar somewhere down the road but I'm not actively shopping. my main priority is getting a few of my electrics back into gigging condition (electronics upgrades/refrets).
