I did, and someone really important spotted my post and came to the rescue. STAY TUNED! My Review of the Z28 MKII Sorry for the long wait, but here it is. Doc hit me up with an offer I could not refuse, and I anxiously waited for what could be my ultimate amp. I was nervous for one, because I have not been totally blown away by any of the MV Z's that I have tried. I much rather attenuate the amps down its just a different thing. Plus I covet both of my Z28's as my forever amps, for me they just sound amazing. So the long awaited Z28 MK II landed and it took all of 3 minutes (Maybe) to know 100% that it sounds likes, feels like my Gold Panel Z28's with the ability to turn it down to the point that I could use it for small room rehearsals and not loose the tone. I set up one of my other Z's side by side with the attenuation off, then 2 clicks like I would usually us it and matched the MV and everything sounded just as magical as the original. I imagined or hoped that the MV would work exactly like it did, its not a "Preamp" volume, its a Master Volume. Think of it as an Air Brake without the clicks! The bottom end is still tight and punchy, and its actually a touch brighter which I really welcomed with open arms. I didn't touch anything on my current board as far as settings, I plugged it in and I was off to the races, it really was that easy to transition. So much so I have not touched my others ones since Sunday, its just too easy to stroll in, turn it on and set the volume depending on who is home. LOL In the end, the Doc made the improvements that I dreamed he would without loosing the magic of the amp that I already love. Now, how do I get another one... I mean everyone needs a back up right? DRZ , thanks a million, if I didn't like it I would have told you so but i'm not even the slightest disappointed. I haven't even muttered anything I would have asked for different under my breath. LOL

Plus, it has Protools built in!!! Oh, wait a minute. I am a very jealous old guy. My Z28 was my favorite amp of all the Z's I had, but when the gigging slowed down to a crawl as well as the venues becoming smaller, I had to let it go. A 28 with a MV would have fit the bill back in the day. Congratulations!

Does this mean the Z-28 MK II is now for sale? It appears this was just a prototype, so I would say not yet. But I'm guessing it's probably getting pretty close though. I guess it will just come down to when the Doc can keep up with the demand of his current line and then the added demand of the new Z-28.

I wish I could answer some of your questions, but I just don't have the answers. I hoped that when I recieved the MKII that I could use the MV like variable attenuator. It does react just like that, an Air Brake without the clicks. I tried it pretty low today and with the kids in the next room watching TV, I didn't bother them at all. I also back the volume down to noon and took the master up to noon and that sounded really fantastic as well. I think adam 's clip of the clean strat tone is pretty darn accurate, but I like my tone a little more driven and compressed. The MKII is really articulate no matter where you set it. Unless you want to run the "333" setting, then if well honestly sound.... Well just like some of you guys like it, that's all I'll say about that. I may actually try it out tonight with a Red Fang or my Tone Tubby 40/40, but i'm pretty stuck on that Avatar 50. I would still love to try it out with the Dr Z 12" or the Celestion A Type. Its too much of a pain to pull it out of the Magnatone or I would have done it already. I also just received my last order from Lovepedal, I purchased a Super 6 from the last sale. You can think of it as an OD11/Timmy with NO mid hump. So its basically like having a Preamp with tone shaping options. It lets the amp sound like the amp. Stacks very well with the Zendrive. The only thing I need now is a matching 1x12.

Swapped in the Tone Tubby 4040 man that sounds great too! Tone Tubby Ceramic 40/40 was THE king of the hill speaker for me with the Z-28, out of maybe a dozen that I'd tried. Both the amp and the speaker are fat, authoritative, and just beasts.
