Hi I bought an M12 and have just had 10mins with it and my Laney 2x12 can with vintage 30 and 70th anniversary. First impressions... I think we're going to be good friends, it's got a lot of top end going but not in a bad way and plenty of bottom through the cab. I already note the gigging volume will not be an issue. This thing Is loud .
I need to get my self an amp first aid kit im looking forward to gigging it on ffriday.

Congrats!!!!
I’d assume you have a 5AR4/GZ34 rectifier based on your perception of loud and bright? Would be worth checking. Could be that cab though. It’s a great amp. Lots of good threads on tubes and speakers here. All the flavors of rectifier are great in their own way (5AR4,5Y3,5V4) and all safe to try in the M12. Some 6N14N’s in the power section will knock off just a touch of those really high highs if you’re looking for that.

I just checked it out, here's what I have. 1 jj 5y3s (I said about the top end but it dials down just fine with the ton knob) 2 EH EL84'S 1 jj 12ax7 And one unknown Ef86.
Would I need to rebias if I go for 6n14n's

Cool! No, the amp is cathode biased. You never need to rebias.

If you think it’s loud now just pull the 5Y3 and put in a 5AR4.

Cool! No, the amp is cathode biased. You never need to rebias. Wahhhhh, how cool is that? Are you sure?

Very sure. The more you dig on the rectifier and tube threads here, you’ll get a fuller picture. Doc says so here as well. M12 is below under discontinued models. drzamps.com/support/tube-info/

Ok I'm going to order some then. Also my Hudson Broadcast smashing the front end of this amp is stunning. I'm hitting a big chord and just floating around in the harmonics. Im backing the gain down on every other pedal.

i Have ordered some sovtek 6n14ns but i'm not sure they are a matched pair. what would a non matched pair of tubes do in a cathode based amp? i also ordered. 5y3gt Phillips NOS and an Mullard EF86 mesh grid made in Holland NOS.
hopefully they will work and i can start messing around with sounds as soon as I buy a few fuses. what size fuses are btw?

Mismatched tubes can potentially cause hum. If not, don’t worry about it. Fuse I believe is 2A. Should say on the back faceplate by the fuse holder.
