Took delivery Wednesday night from a large retailer (Sweet*) - box arrived in terrific shape. Had to get my Z Cab (1x12) from Humbucker in GA.
Opened boxes - hooked everything up - no sound. Nothing.
Fast forward to last night (Thurs.) - still nothing - look online & find Dr. Z's troubleshooting tips.
Fri (lunch from work) - watch video; take off rear panel; methodically follow troubleshooting tips. Voila!
Only got to play for about 5 mins before I had to go back to work - wow! Only thing I'm noticing at this point is one of my preamp tube 'sockets' seems to be a tiny bit loose (other tube sinks perfectly into slot; loose slot has a tiny gap). I'm getting some hum which I'll also need to take a look at as it could be AC-related.
For now - thanks Dr. Z for the 'dumb' (non-technical) troubleshooting video made for a non-tech to follow. Looking forward to many years of fun with the Z-Wreck Jr.

Hi, do you mean the entire socket is loose or one of the retention pins in the socket?

Hi, do you mean the entire socket is loose or one of the retention pins in the socket? I'll take a closer look this evening after I get home - I believe the entire socket is a little wobbly.

Entire socket is a little loose - not affecting anything that I can tell after a few days of use.

If you’re comfortable taking the chassis out it’s an easy fix to tighten the two screws that fasten it in. Just read up on how to work on tube amps, mainly to unplug and what to avoid.

The Dr. Z amps that I've seen use threaded inserts pressed into the chassis for all of the threaded hardware. In this case, you can check if the tube socket's Phillips head screws are loose and tighten them without taking the chassis out of the amp. You will have to take the shield off of the preamp tube.

The second one I got had 2 tubes broken. The dealer was great through it all and sent me a full set of tubes for free (rightfully). That night I learned how to fully re-tube an amp. Works great now. Glad you got yours working!
