Help a rookie out, would ya? On my Pedaltrain board I've used only 'regular' velcro for years and it doesn't firmly hold some of the pedals in place. I see that either 3M Dual Lock or Godlyke Power-Grip are preferred - what are you using? Does either work well if you use a 1" wide strip, as opposed to a 2" wide strip that would cover each row on the board completely? How much of a pain is it to remove the regular velcro before putting either 3M or Godlyke on? Also, any tips on cable management? Thanks in advance for any help.

I use "Industrial" Velcro for the bottom of the pedals (hook side) and haven't had any issues, although I move/pack my own gear in my personal vehicle.
I use the full 2" loop side Velcro that comes with the PT board. I even cut smaller pieces to fully cover the entire face of the board.
Cables; power cables are run underneath (where the power brick is attached) and signal cables are run up top. For the power cables, I use zip tie tie-downs and lots of zip ties. You can get them on Amazon or at the Rig Doctor's Reverb site.

I have been using the 3mm Dual lock with great success. I had a board made at westcoast pedal board with a hard top. No velcrow. The best thing about it is I can even take it off the board If I need to and put new dual lock down. I also can take the dual lock off of pedals If I need to sell them. It just works better for me.

I agree that dual lock is the way to go. Also dual lock is a better hook velcro than standard hook velcro. In regards to your question about removing velcro from a board. I have found that you can apply some heat to it and it will come up, usually without any issues. If you have a heat gun, you could use that sparingly. If not a heat gun then a hair dryer would work as well. Just something to heat up the adhesive from the velcro and it will usually come up without any residue.

Get the industrial grade velcro. When using it I sometimes find it difficult to get a pedal to come OFF. I have to actually wedge it off with a flat blade screwdriver. I also place Velcro on the bottom of the board and use little strips of it to secure cables. That way I don't have to cut cable ties when rerouting things.
