So I bought a loaded tele body from a guy on Reverb. One of the draws was that the lone pickup is a Curtis Novak, fat-tele bridge. I've had Curtis' Jazzmaster pickups for years and he was great when I was building that guitar and had me call him and everything to make sure he made me what I was looking for. Anyway...
I put my neck on string it up, tune everybody a few times and plug straight into my Maz 38. Chords sound good, all three positions on the selector are making noise. When I start play licks it seems like the high E is a lot quieter than the B (and all the others). So I really start listening, and the high E is not being amplified at all. What I could hear was just the sound of the guitar in my lap. I have a message to the seller asking if this was an issue for him.
My question here is, how is this even possible? The wire is going to be wrapped around all the poles and if there was an issue with the coil I wouldn't get any signal. Can 1 pole go bad? If so how does that happen? Can a pole get demagnetized? If that happened to one, wouldn't it happen to others?
I've never had this issue or seen it talked about. Help me out.

I had the main magnet in a Humbucker become demagnetized during shipping from Europe. We think it was the MRI imaging that Fed Ex does with international shipping, not certain on that. The two single coils in the package were not demagnetized.

You can have the pickup re-magnetized. I had a Strat pickup where the "B" pole was quite a bit weaker than the others. I had my buddy Don Mare, de-magnetize the entire pickup and re-magnetize it and then slightly de-magnetize it to be like my other 2 pickups.
He also changed the polarity on it, it was the middle pickup.

I can remagnatize it for you if you want to send it over. No charge Thanks Todd, I really appreciate that. I had actually emailed Novak wondering if who I might get to respond since they've gotten much bigger since Curtis built my Jazzmaster pickups for me. I got a pretty quick response from Curtis himself. After he gave me some trouble shooting steps (I had done all but one), he invited me to send it in to him. I made another post with the whole issue, but it looks like the pickup was broke in forcing it to fit into the bridge. Base plate wasn't even connected.
