I love everything about my Nova combo. Just for fun I cycled some speakers through it last night. I started with the G12H-75 Creamback I had in it then tried G12-H30 (stock), Celestion Alnico Gold, WGS ET-90, Celestion Alnico Ruby, Eminence Governor, Vintage 30, H75 Scumback, WGS Retro and an Eminence Red Fang. It sounded nice with all of them, but I have to say I think I got it right with the G12H-75 Creamback I started with. Clean or dirty it just sounds perfect in the amp. Just thought I'd share my opinion in case anyone is interested. Man, what an amp the Nova is and I've currently got 19 Z's.

That’s a LOT of speaker changes…..more power to ya for the diligence! The creamback is a real nice speaker.

It's a great amp for sure. I'm a pedal board guy and the Nova with my Firebird is one amp that I don't miss not using pedals with. It's just go-get-'em with guitar, cable, amp. So many great tones right at the fingertips.

10 speaker changes! Holy cow. Nice kudos to the Nova with all those amps to reference too. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing! I love my Nova combo too, and I always wonder why it doesn't get more love on this site, but I only own 1 other Z amp which is the Zwreck. I love it also but it is too loud for the small places I play. Could you describe the difference in tone between the stock speaker and the creamback so I can see if it's something I would want to explore? Thanks

Thanks The best way I can describe it is just more of everything. No matter which guitar or pedals I use, the G12H-75 Creamback just delivers the goods. Tone is subjective of course and I'm just offering my opinion.

The Creamback is a very good sounding speaker. I used one with my Remedy and it indeed delivered the goods.
When I converted my Nova head to a Studio Combo, I decided on the Emi Lil Texas neo. It sounds great as well, and shaves several lbs.

I swapped out the G12H-30 in my Nova for an Eminence Alessandro GA-SC64 and I have to say that I am loving it. It smoothed things out for me. It sounds a little more vintage tweed to me. I moved the G12H-30 to my MAZ 38 Mk II NR. It had an A-type Celestion and was not chimey enough for me. The G12H-30 has really improved that. Both amps are ticking all boxes for me now. At least for now.

Anyone try a Jensen style alnico? That seems like the logical choice to get more toward vintage tweed tone.
My Nova combo is on the way!!! I have a 112 z cab and an 8ohm CB-M65 I will try for sure but am really curious about WGS G12A. There are other, more American, alnico options but I think something with a bit less efficiency might work best for me, like the G12A at 96dbs. CB-M65 is 97dbs.
However, I do love the G12H30 in a the right amp and sure that will sound great!
