Hello all, So what guitars/pickup configuration are all you guys using with your Z-Wrecks and are you plugged straight in or using an OD. Also what speakers have you played around with. So far this is what I've messed with and like the most:
Speakers are in a 2x12 Maz38 combo, using the combo (one side) as a cabinet for testing since I don't have a dedicated stand alone Z cab.
Les Paul standard (R6) with P90's with Wampler Paisley OD. Tried with a Alnico Blue, Alnico Gold and G12M (greenback) Actually like the G12M at the moment.
Les Paul Custom (R7) with BB1&2 with Mojo Hand FX Rook and Mojo Hand FX Bantam. Sounds good with the Gold and G12M
CS 54 RI Strat with whatever pickups came in it plugged straight in, sometimes used with the Wampler Paisley OD, sounds great with the G12M
Over all my opinion is the Z-Wreck sounds the best with my Strats plugged straight in, maybe a slight boost with the Paisley. The Pauls are a bit muddy and dark unless juiced up with a pedal or 2 but still not digging it.
My Pauls all sound amazing with my Maz38, Mojo Hand FX Rook and Mojo Hand FX Bantam using the Gold.
For the Pauls guys, what are you running pedal and speaker wise with your Jr or are you just plugged straight in? If straight in what are your Master and Volume set at. I've played around but just not feeling it with the Pauls. Thanks

Also interested in HB pickups intro the Wreck Jr. I have A5 PAF and t-top style which of course are fairly low output. Are yours similar lowish output range?

Z Wreck Jr - Z210 cab and Z112 cab - straight in with an older MIJ ‘62 Strat and MIA 2016 Tele and 2016 Gibson LP Special (P90s - stock standard) 210’is the older style short box with stock Z10s 112 is the older style short box with stock V30 …. have been considering a 212 w Greens ….. but that may wait a bit as the surge of new gear into the house has sparked a few extra conversations…..
Haven’t tried any effects yet …. most likely will wind up with various Xotic pedals and maybe CMATMODS Trem and Chorus ….
Great amp to say the least. I am hoping to lineup some play time with a ‘335 or similar semi-hollow.
Cheers always

All of my guitars sound quite good with the wreck jr. They are all a bit different, but that is the point I think. If you are finding muddiness with the humbuckers, don't hesitate to turn down the bass and turn up the cut control.
I set the volume at 11:00 for humbuckers and set the master to taste (usually low at home) for edge of breakup and 9:00 for clean. Cranked past 11:00 for anything dirtier, all of which are super satisfying, especially with a delay set to not go crazy with the mix knob.
A while back on TPS, Matt Schofield showed how he set up his amps controls by sweeping through each one and finding the sweet spot for each one for the guitar he used (basically not using his eyes, which I can be very guilty of).
I hope this helps.

I’ll be real, I’ve been having an extremely hard time with my pedals and my zwreck Jr. I was once a pedal head, if that’s the right term, and I’ve been having a rough go getting all the sounds I’m craving when I play live. The amp is awesome don’t get me wrong, but only very few of my vast collection of pedals work with it.
I have a paisley deluxe drive too, along with the zdrive (not a fan). I only like the left half of the paisley deluxe as the right half just doesn’t seem to work with the amp in my opinion. Just gets extremely muddy. Maybe there’s something wrong, but I’ve never had this issue before. I’ve been running the amp with a decent amount of gain as I’m an avid volume knob user, so maybe that plays into my experience. I basically have a goal of wanting -sparkle clean, rock/country rhythm, harder rock rhythm, lead. In the past I’ve used pedals to push me over the edge, but I haven’t quite got there yet with this amp. Haven’t had to switch out my pedals so often in a long time.

I run a CS closet classic tele, sounds good through everything.

I’m more of a straight in guy with the zwreck jr. I’m running a wet dry rig split at a pan wah pedal. Effects are running into a clean fender. What I really love about the jr is it’s attack… the rest is awesome as well, but the effects can take away the focus on the attack… so they are through a separate amp, and trail. I can blend wet and dry with the Ernie ball pan pedal.

I’m running mine with the Greenback it came with. It can be a darker amp, but if you turn the bass down below 9:00, it will help a lot. Also, turn the cut up to get more brightness going. This will keep the drive smooth and tight with Les Pauls.
I’ve had a lot of complements on my tone with the Wreck Jr and LPs.

Agree, also with my Tele I keep the bass around 9:00 on my Wreck Jr combo with Greenback. As for OD pedals: My favorite with the Wreck Jr is the Nordland ODR-C (an improved Nobels ODR-1 by its original designer Kai Tachibana). Seems to work better here than a KoT or a Timmy (which I both love with my Fender amps).
