Welcome to the forum! A 28 would fit in well with the 2 Z's you have listed in your profile, but I think this combo is a bit over priced. The Greenback is a great choice for the speaker though!

Thank you and yes, agree with you on price. I have a Greenback in my Z convertible cabinet, so a head would be ideal. The hunt continues...

Wow I just bought a used Z-28 From Guitar center a few months ago Same color in better condition then that one for much less. That is too much I agree. That’s the weird thing about guitar center Their used gear pricing is always hit and miss. I think It all depends on The location and what they paid for the used gear. Sometimes I wonder if they even know what they are doing. All I know is when you find a good deal jump on it.
And I agree the greenback is the best speaker for it

Rumor has it the Z28 MKii is due out at some point in the near future. If you can’t wait, there is one in this same color/cab combo listed on Facebook marketplace in Columbus OH. Price seems fair enough. I would have grabbed it but I picked up my first 28 (another story) just a few weeks ago. Good luck,

From what I've gathered via posts here on the forum, the Z-28 MkII is so different from the original Z-28 that it probably won't have the Z-28 name by the time it is released. The originals come up for sale fairly often (compared to some other Z models) so unless you are looking for a particular color tolex or a combo with specific speakers, you should be able to find one at a fair price with a little patience.

Not only is the price high on the amp, I think the guy who priced it is too. Be patient and you'll find one at a better price. It took me a while to find a used Z-28 at a decent price, but it was worth the wait.

That is not completely true. At first I built the Z 28 and added a PPIMV and had trouble getting it to sound right. So I Cathode Biased it and installed Tung Sol 5881's to get 28 watt and added a Metro loop. This was to be the Z 28 MKII. It sounded great but not like the original Z 28, which I felt most really wanted. So I went back to work trying capture the original Z 28 sound and also have a great PPIMV. With much trepidation I was able to make the PPIMV work in the original Fixed bias circuit. I also installed all Orange Drop coupling caps to add to the snap and pop of the original Z 28. Built it on a larger chassis so I could add the Metro Loop. It is complete now and sounds excellent. My only issue is with appox. 40 weeks of back-orders I'm having issues as to when I can re-release it without screwing up my production. A very good problem to have , but a problem none the less. Also i will release the 5881 version at some time in the future I just need a name. Z

Named after the International Race of Champions, an all-star racing series that was running since 1974, the IROC-Z was an option package for the Z28 that included visual and performance enhancements

I guess I haven't kept up with the changes. Glad the MkII will carry on the vibe of the original. Sure sounded like a whole different animal the last time I read the MkII posts.
