Hi gentlemen,
I am on the search for my next clean amp. My collection consists of all EL84 amps (wreck,Jr and m12) and I THINK im going to part with the m12...
I used to own an EZG and I really miss that amp. I was wondering how similar the lux and ezg were and what differences they might have other then the trem. They seem to be both described as "blackface" renditions? I love the fact that the lux is 40w with a half power switch.

Both are in the BF camp as you know. So it’s more like Twin vs Deluxe Reverb/Super if that helps at all. Personally the Lux with the updates is more versatile.

I haven't had either amp with the updates, but both were original versions and I liked the EZG waaay more. Reminded me of the Twins, Pro and Super Reverbs I've had.

I have had the EZG as well and loved it...but it was too loud for my use. I'm mainly interested how similar the z lux can get into EZG land...

I believe some use 5881’s for a bigger bottle experience. Maybe they’ll chime in.

Yup, I would be one of those who use the 5881s and can attest to their efficacy at making the Z-Lux sound more like a mini-Twin Reverb than a Deluxe. Dr. Z himself said as much. Cheers!
