I think he would have loved the CAZ. I’ve seen many videos of him playing a STZ. So, cascading gain was something he liked. He would have really like how the CAZ cleans up. I miss that guy!

For sure. I’m not a big blues guy, but I actually bought a couple of his albums after being exposed to him here in my early days on the forum. He had his own thing going on.

Bless his soul. May he rest in peace. Truly an amazing man, and powerful guitarist.

Such a great Bluesman, powehouse singer and player! I remember that V with EMG’s into a Klon Centaur into a Delta 88, oh the tone.

I guess like a lot of folks here, I discovered Michael on this forum, many years ago. Always felt he didn't get the recognition he deserved. What a great tone he had, great playing and also great voice, this man had it all. His voice, to me, was a little bit like a mix of Freddie King and Robert Cray, with his own thing of course. I'm not a blues player but I do really enjoy some good blues and I found Michael was able to get the right balance of feel and technique. He was not throwing fluries of notes just to show off, the notes all made sense and were felt, like all the best blues guys are able to do. I also mostly associated him with a V and a Delta 88, but here is a clip I found of him with an LP into an SRZ-65...what else to say, great great tone.
Enjoy!

Nice of you to post that Michael Burks video. It brought back fond memories. Here's one I would like to share. From time to time I would bring my grandson Carmen ( Carmen Ghia namesake ), to sound checks with me . I brought him to a couple of Michael's pre shows. Michael took a liking to Carmen immediately and they started talking gear.
Carmen favored a Flying V Michael had on stage . Michael brought Carmen on stage and put the V on him and said let's see your stuff. Carmen proceeded to play the best licks he knew and loved the feel of the V. Three days latter that Flying V was at my shops door a present from Michael to Carmen. Carmen treasures that guitar. That was the kind of man Michael Burks was, may he Rest in Peace.

Good Lord, that’s an incredible video. Truly massive tone and talent. Being a Gibbons fan also, that’s right up my alley. His passing came way too soon. May he Rest In Peace.
