This one is a Klone of a silver Klon called the "refractor" overdrive.
I gotta say, this was incredibly fun. Especially when you enjoy soldering as much as I do. The kit really does include everything-- the PCBs, all components, housing, knobs, bezels, etc.
The circuits are very intelligently laid out, making the pedals very easy to solder up. This was my first ever time doing something like this and I haven't soldering PCBs much in a *long* time and it still only took a couple hours because I was being very methodical and double/triple checking everything.
And wouldn't you know it, it worked perfectly right off the hop! I love it when a plan comes together!
Well, it work for a few seconds anyway. Because I made the mistake of forgetting my FD2 is running at 18V. So when I grabbed a "9V" supply to plug in the refractor, I apparently cooked the voltage pump OpAmp, which is only rated to 12V. So I have some new OpAmps coming.
ProTip-- solder at a tip temp of about 360C/680F with a 1.2mm chisel tip. This is "medium hot" and will let you get in and out before you get anything too hot (especially those fragile Germanium Diodes). Also, 0.020" solder wire is about perfect for this kind of work, and there were even times I used the 0.015. You think that diameter is too small until you use it a lot, then you realize that it's perfect because you have incredible amount of control and it makes it easy to get just the right amount of solder.
