I want to get my second Z, have a Z master. I should get something in the VOX camp as its the only thing missing from my quiver. With saying all that, the EZG just gets me everytime i hear it. Hell i have a 1965 all original Twin, so i should say hey, i have that tier, let me get what i dont have......
Would be curious to hear from and EZG peeps out there in Z Ville >
Cheers>

The EZG is more in the Super Reverb camp to my ears. Here's a good sound clip

I've never had the right cab and speakers to channel the SR vibe with my EZGs (I've owned three of them over the years). As Mike's clips show, the SR tones are in there. I currently play mine through a 2x12 and it's pretty "twin-ish" so while I'm obviously a fan of the EZG, given that you have a vintage BF Twin, I'd go with something like the Ray for your second Z.
edited to add that I have owned 4x10 combos (2 ohm) with speakers that would have done the SR thing (Tweed Bassman, 60 Concert, 65 SR) but not at the same time as any of the three EZG heads.

My favorite speaker/cab with the EZG was a 1x15 with an Eminence Legend 151. I believe Jaguarguy (Mike) has my old speaker & cab now--what a sound paired with the EZG!!!

I'm not sure how the EZG-50 compares to 60's twin, but I love the EZG. It's been my main amp for a few years now and I have no desire to replace it with anything else.
The clean sound is pristine. My original bands plays funk/blues/rock. The EZG is perfect for that 70's clean funk sound. It's also great with pedals, with tons of head room. If your looking for a pedal platform amp, it's hard to beat the EZG. Plus there's plenty of volume on tap to keep up with a really loud band.

I've had a '71 Twin Reverb (blackfaced) and an EZG head with Z 1x12 convertible cabinet that I used a Weber 12F150 in. I did not have both amps at the same time, but when I played the EZG it was definitely in the same realm. As much as I like the EZG, if you have an old Twin, maybe get something else.
However, if you're looking to downsize a bit from the Twin the EZG should do it for you.

Thanks for the feedback fellows> Saw that i misspelt worth in the header.
You just dont hear much about this model, I feel like it jumps off the page. That South African guys tone is full on> But in the end, you cant have every amp in the world i suppose..... Also, my Z master will get a bit of shimmer and will do a little bit of what my twin does. Speakng of old twins, they will seduce you in a very loud way. I guess its a Z wreck, Maz or Stang ray>

I know I'm in the minority around here about this, but I liked the EZG much more than the Z-Lux. However, I haven't had the MKII version of either.

Sorry if I'm repeating myself here. I've mentioned this in other EZG threads....... I felt the same way about not getting the SR vibe (on my 3rd one also) until I bought a Z 4x10 with the Z Legend alnico option and had the head modded with the bass and voicing mods. It now kills for those tones. I believe Dan Patlansky has/had a Jenson/more American type speaker in that clip posted above?
