I do have the amp ready to go. But with a 32 week lead time currently, and problems getting stock items from my suppliers now isn't the time to release a new popular amp. Be patient it will be worth the wait.

I’m really looking to purchase a Z-28. I currently have a Route 66 from’99 that I love, but I think I would really enjoy the lower output 6v6 of the z-28. I’m just trying to decide if I should get a used one or wait for the new release.

As of the other day, the Doc said on another thread that it would most likely be released around the time of the Holidays and will include a PPIMV.

A master volume does sound intriguing! No problem. Yeah, as someone who has had an original Z28 in the past. It may "only" be 22 watts, but that sucker is loud. So, for someone who likes to play at home, a good master volume will make the Z28 much more usable for many more people. I know I definitely plan on pulling the trigger on the re-release version.

Airbrake or another attenuator will do the job. IMHO the suggestion that Doc is going to rebadge the Z28 MKII as another amp all together makes complete sense. It is my favorite Z to date hands down. I've played plenty of Z and they keep following me home. I would go back into a burning building for my Z28.
I would love to try the new version at some when it comes out, it sounded fantastic in the videos.

Actually according to the response from the Doc on the "Easter Service" thread, he was able to get the PPIMV to work satisfactory on the re-release of the actual Z28. So he's planning on doing that around the Holiday time. I don't think it is the "MkII" which that one he was planning on doing as a different amp since it was a bit different from the Z28 with the 5881's.

The Z28 is the one Z that interests me the most. I've never owned one but so many of you speak to it's greatness, I'm intrigued for sure.

I was kind of in the same boat very confused about the future of the Z-28. I was waiting on the new version to come out but then read that the Doc Decided to make it a different amp and then re release the older version But only in the head form. So I was very fortunate to find a used combo. I am not interested in a head/cab version. Got to have a combo. It’s a great sounding amp LT. One of the Docs best imho.

I know I definitely plan on pulling the trigger on the re-release version. I bought a kingtone blues power pedal I use it at the end of my chain before my delay and use it as a attenuator at home. I posted a video in the effects forum of a guy demonstrating how to use it. It’s also a great sounding overdrive boost.

It absolutely LOVED pedals. Definitely regret letting it go, along with a lot of other stuff, but other things took priority at the time. Had to use an attenuator with it though. If the Master on the Z28 re-release is anywhere near as good as the Cure, it will make it extremely usable.

I'm personally fine with the head form. I'm mainly playing at home so, I don't have to move a lot around. Also it makes it easier to experiment with speakers. Also easier to use different amps with the same cab. However, totally understand needing the combo version though. Especially if you are gigging and needing to move it around a lot.

I understand I gig and use a dolly. I also take my pedal board. I use to have cabs and then put the head on top of the cab and then carry my pedal board bag and have my guitar slung around my shoulder and going through parking lots was very bumpy and stressful with that head on the cab. At one time it was not so bad I would just leave an amp at church or a cab and then just take the head back and forth but I don’t leave a thing anywhere anymore.

Coming into the homestretch with the Z 28 MKII. Due to many requests I'm looking into releasing it as a 1x12 combo as well as a head, more on that later. Hope to get it out to Adam soon for one of his excellent videos. Like most builders of any volume I'm working with Transformer supply shortages. I have been on the phone almost daily with Heyboer, and Schumacher.

Thanks I appreciate your trust and rightfully so it does sound excellent. But I can't do that. I don't sell currant production amps direct and my dealers need info about the amp prior to release. I'm working on all of that , just keep your pants on I'll make sure you get a great one!!!! Z

Been trying to find one of the threads that sayes what Doc’s favorite is. Is it the Z-28 or the Stang Ray? I heard him talking to a customer on the phone once and he was asked which amp was his favorite. He said "it's like trying trying to pick between my kids, it depends on the day"
